Job Description

About the Company We are a defense technology company focused on transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced technology. By bringing modern engineering practices, technology, and business models to the defense industry, we are changing how military systems are designed, built, and delivered. Our systems leverage autonomy, artificial intelligence, computer vision, sensor fusion, networking, and real-time command-and-control technologies to deliver advanced capabilities on accelerated timelines. About the Team The Maritime Division is responsible for planning and executing the product and revenue roadmap for maritime missions. Working across product, engineering, business development, logistics, and operations, the team develops, tests, deploys, and sustains maritime capabilities in challenging operational environments worldwide. This team tackles complex engineering problems where technical performance, reliability, manufacturability, and mission requirements must all be balanced. About the Role You will lead mechanical analysis for a maritime autonomous vehicle. Reporting to the Structures Lead, you will own structural and thermal analyses for pressure, fatigue, and environmental loading across the vehicle's full design envelope. The structure must survive full-depth pressure cycling, marine corrosion, and fatigue throughout its service life while remaining light enough to meet buoyancy and endurance targets. These requirements create challenging engineering trade-offs, and you will play a key role in evaluating and resolving them. What You'll Do Own structural, mechanical, and thermal analysis for the vehicle. Perform structural analyses using FEA, hand calculations, and buckling analysis. Verify structural interfaces with propulsion, buoyancy, energy, and payload systems. Lead trade studies balancing strength, weight, corrosion resistance, and cost. Support prototype builds and structural test campaigns. Contribute to Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), and associated technical documentation. Collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering and operations teams. Travel up to 25% to test sites and manufacturing facilities. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline. 5+ years of experience in structural design and analysis for marine, aerospace, robotic, or similarly demanding engineered systems. Proficiency with structural analysis and FEA tools such as Nastran, ANSYS, Abaqus, or equivalent. Experience selecting materials for corrosive and/or high-pressure environments. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance. Preferred Qualifications Experience designing or analyzing submarine or other subsea structures. Familiarity with ABS or DNV structural design codes. Experience with pressure cycling, fatigue, buckling, and marine environmental loading. Experience supporting structural testing, prototype builds, and formal engineering design reviews.
