$60,000-$80,000 per year, depending on experience About Minegar Concrete, Inc. Minegar Concrete, Inc. is a commercial concrete subcontractor serving Southern California. We specialize in a wide range of concrete construction, including structural concrete, foundations, slabs, site concrete, and related commercial concrete work . We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Estimator / Project Engineer to join our team at our Vista, CA office. This is a full-time, office-based position that combines estimating responsibilities with project engineering and project support. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and eager to develop their career in commercial construction. Position Overview The Estimator / Project Engineer will work closely with our estimating and project management teams to support projects from the bidding stage through completion. This position will be involved in reviewing construction documents, preparing quantity takeoffs, soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and vendor pricing, assisting with bids, and providing project engineering support after contract award. We are seeking someone with 2+ years of construction, estimating, project engineering, or related experience preferred, but not required . We are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates strong attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and an interest in commercial construction. Key Responsibilities Estimating & Preconstruction Assist with preparing competitive bids for commercial concrete projects. Review plans, specifications, scopes of work, and contract documents. Perform detailed concrete quantity takeoffs and assist with estimating labor and material requirements. Solicit, track, and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotations. Assist with bid comparisons and scope reviews. Identify project requirements, exclusions, and potential risks during the estimating process. Assist with preparing and submitting proposals. Project Engineering & Project Support Assist Project Managers with day-to-day project administration. Prepare and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other project documentation. Review project plans, specifications, and details for coordination and constructability. Assist with project schedules and maintaining project documentation. Track changes in scope and assist with pricing and documentation of change orders. Coordinate with general contractors, vendors, subcontractors, and internal project teams. Maintain organized and accurate project files and records. Assist with project closeout and other duties as needed. Qualifications 2+ years of experience in construction, estimating, project engineering, or a related field preferred, but not required . Commercial concrete construction experience is a plus. Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications. Strong mathematical and analytical skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Experience with Bluebeam and Procore is preferred. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
