WM seeks a Landfill Civil & Environmental Engineer to plan, design, and oversee landfill infrastructure and environmental control systems. You will manage engineering projects from permitting through construction and closure, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Responsibilities include groundwater and gas monitoring programs, stability and settlement analyses, stormwater and leachate system design, and consultant/contractor oversight. You will collaborate with operations, safety, and environmental teams to support sustainable, cost-effective landfill performance and help advance WM's long-term environmental and renewable energy initiatives. Responsibilities Design landfill cells, caps, and related civil infrastructure Develop and manage leachate, gas collection, and stormwater systems Prepare permit applications, technical reports, and regulatory submittals Oversee consultants, contractors, and construction QA/QC activities Monitor environmental performance, including groundwater and gas data Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental and safety regulations Support closure, post-closure, and corrective action projects Collaborate with operations, safety, and environmental teams on solutions Optimize designs for cost, performance, and sustainability Contribute engineering expertise to WM renewable and sustainability initiatives Required Skills Landfill design Solid waste engineering Environmental regulations (RCRA, CWA, CAA) Permitting and compliance Stormwater management Leachate and gas collection systems Civil site design (grading, drainage) Geotechnical analysis (stability, settlement) Groundwater monitoring and remediation Construction oversight and QA/QC
