Job Description

CAB Engineering Solutions, Inc. is a respected and growing civil engineering and land surveying firm specializing in site planning, design, surveying, permitting, and construction services for retail, commercial, residential, and public-sector projects. Our team works on a diverse range of projects throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and provides clients with high-quality, practical solutions from initial planning and surveying through permitting, design, and construction. We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Civil Engineer to join our growing Survey Department.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Civil Engineer with 5-10 years of professional experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering site development, permitting, construction plan preparation, and municipal zoning and land development applications for both private- and public-sector clients. Our projects range from residential and commercial developments and retail expansions and modifications to major mixed-use developments and subdivisions. In this role, you will be involved in the design and development of site layouts, site grading, erosion and sedimentation controls, stormwater management facilities, and site utilities. You will work closely with clients, contractors, architects, surveyors, and local and state government officials, playing an integral role throughout the entire project lifecycle—from the conceptual and design phases through regulatory review, permitting, bidding, and construction, all the way through project completion and grand opening. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and proven experience with land development and/or municipal infrastructure projects. We are looking for someone who is motivated to take ownership of projects, enjoys working collaboratively with a diverse team, and is committed to delivering high-quality engineering solutions for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and support the design and development of civil engineering projects from conceptual design through construction. Prepare civil site plans, grading and drainage plans, utility plans, erosion and sedimentation control plans, and stormwater management designs. Design and analyze stormwater management systems, including detention and retention facilities, infiltration systems, drainage networks, and related infrastructure. Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and calculations using HydroCAD, Storm Sewers, and other applicable software. Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, permit applications, and construction documents. Prepare and coordinate municipal zoning, planning, subdivision, and land development applications. Interpret and apply local, state, and federal regulations and permitting requirements. Coordinate with surveyors, architects, landscape architects, environmental consultants, contractors, and other project team members. Communicate directly with clients, municipal officials, contractors, and regulatory agencies. Attend project meetings, site meetings, public hearings, and regulatory review meetings as needed. Assist with project management, scheduling, budgeting, and client coordination. Review plans, calculations, and technical documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff. Participate in construction administration, field inspections, site observations, and project closeout activities. Help identify practical and cost-effective solutions to challenging engineering and permitting issues.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. 5-10 years of professional civil engineering experience, preferably with a focus on land development and site design. EIT certification required or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D. Experience with HydroCAD and Storm Sewers preferred. Strong understanding of site grading, drainage, stormwater management, and utility design. Experience preparing civil engineering plans and permit applications.
