Job Description

We are seeking a Project Engineer to support industrial mechanical construction projects throughout the Baltimore region. This position will work closely with project and operations leadership to help manage projects from estimating and pre-construction through field execution and completion. We are hiring at multiple experience levels. Our primary need is for an experienced Senior Project Engineer with a background in industrial mechanical construction; however, we are also interested in recent engineering graduates and early-career engineers for an Entry-Level Project Engineer opportunity in the greater Baltimore area. This is a hands-on position for someone who wants to be involved in both the technical and operational sides of industrial construction. Projects may involve process piping, rotating equipment, structural steel, tanks, conveyors, equipment installation and other mechanical systems within manufacturing, processing and power-generation facilities. Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily with project, operations and field leadership on active and upcoming projects
  • Support multiple industrial construction projects from planning through completion
  • Assist with project buyout, material procurement and subcontractor coordination
  • Track material deliveries and ensure they align with project schedules
  • Review project specifications, drawings and technical requirements
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, approvals and project documentation
  • Monitor project costs and assigned budgets
  • Assist with owner and subcontractor applications for payment
  • Participate in pre-construction and project progress meetings
  • Work directly with field supervision to develop and execute construction plans
  • Visit project sites regularly to monitor progress and understand project requirements
  • Communicate project schedules, progress, needs and issues to operations leadership and clients
  • Assist with estimating new projects, including material takeoffs, labor requirements, equipment costs and subcontractor pricing
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes
  • Help prepare proposals, including project scope, clarifications and exclusions
  • Support installation planning for process piping, rotating equipment, structural supports and related industrial mechanical systems
  • Troubleshoot project and field issues as they arise What We're Looking For For the experienced-level opportunity, ideal candidates will have:
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • Approximately 5+ years of relevant industrial construction, project engineering or project management experience
  • Experience or strong exposure to industrial mechanical construction
  • Knowledge of process piping, millwrighting, industrial equipment installation and/or related mechanical systems
  • Experience working with construction drawings, specifications, RFIs and submittals
  • Estimating, scheduling and cost-control experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with ASME codes and standards is preferred
  • Familiarity with SMAW, GTAW and/or FCAW welding processes is a plus
  • Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively with field personnel, clients, subcontractors and project leadership Early-career engineers are also encouraged to apply.
Recent engineering graduates and candidates with approximately 0-3 years of experience may be considered for our Entry-Level Project Engineer opportunity in the Hagerstown/Williamsport area. Internship, co-op, manufacturing, construction or other hands-on industrial experience is a plus. Work Environment Projects take place in a variety of industrial environments, ranging from clean food-grade manufacturing facilities to recycling, chemical processing and power-generation facilities. Candidates should be comfortable spending time both in the office and in the field. The position requires reliable transportation and the flexibility to travel to project sites throughout the region. Some overtime and occasional night-shift work may be required based on project and client needs. Benefits
