Construction Project Engineer Position Overview We are seeking a versatile and motivated Construction Project Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be involved in overseeing on-site construction projects for clients in life sciences industries. Maintain constant communication with contractors and clients, while making necessary decisions to drive and monitor the project's progress and keep it on schedule. The ideal candidate will direct, lead, and assist contractors for construction projects. This includes the ability to perform quality control through the development phase to ensure client standards are upheld. The ideal candidate will have experience in constructions management and an understanding of the engineering principles that drive design and construction workflows.
Key Responsibilities Construction Management:
Daily on-site Construction Management for multiple projects - monitor construction contractors for (each project) daily, monitoring for PPE and safety compliance, assisting with issuing safety permits and handling day to day construction questions. Escalating concerns and discussing with manager or other stakeholders as required.
Project Management :
Assist in creating and maintaining project schedules, timelines, and budgets. Track project progress and communicate updates to stakeholders. Support the construction management team in on-site project coordination and project documentation.
Technical Expertise:
Apply construction codes, safety standards, and engineering principles to drafting work. Ensure that all drafted designs comply with local building codes, environmental regulations, and client specifications.
Quality Control:
Conduct detailed checks of design drawings to ensure accuracy and consistency. Revise and update plans based on feedback and changes in project scope or requirements.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with engineers, architects and vendors to resolve design issues or inconsistencies. Participate in project meetings and provide technical support and design recommendations.
Troubleshooting and Support:
Provide technical support for commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting of construction projects, both on-site and remotely.
Documentation:
Prepare and maintain detailed documentation for all designs, programs, and processes, ensuring clarity and accuracy for internal and external stakeholders. Redline drawings for as-built conditions and work with client CAD groups to get drawings updated, request new drawings etc. Work with CAD group to assemble TOP package docs.
Change Management :
Work with clients team for development and implementation of change controls
Continuous Improvement:
Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering practices, staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies in automation.
Project Participation:
Assist senior engineers and project managers in various project phases, including design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. Work with vendors to specify and gather budgetary pricing for new equipment as needed.
Preferred Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
Experience:
5-7 years working in Pharmaceutical, Biotech or Medical Device Engineering Projects and Construction Management. Ideal candidate will also have 2-5 years of proven experience in CAD Drafting and construction management. Hands on experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or other CAD Software and knowledge of construction processes, building materials and systems. Skills Basic proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD MEP 2024, Revit 2024 BIM, Microstation, SOLIDWORKS, Bluebeam Revu, and CADD Worx) Strong understanding of construction methods, standards and regulations Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently Utilize design software to generate deliverables that include flow diagrams, P&IDs, site plans, equipment arrangements, pipe routing arrangements, isometrics, equipment supports, and structural outlines for operator platforms.
