THE POSITION
Yankee Electric is seeking an organized, motivated Project Engineer to support our electrical construction projects from startup through closeout. In this role, you will work closely with Project Managers, field leadership, customers, vendors, subcontractors, and design teams to keep project documentation, RFIs, submittals, procurement, costs, and schedules moving forward. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with construction experience who wants to expand their knowledge of electrical construction and build a long-term career in project management.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Assist Project Managers with project turnover, startup, planning, and coordination Review project plans, specifications, contracts, and bid documents Organize and maintain project files, drawings, specifications, meeting minutes, safety records, and correspondence Prepare, submit, distribute, and track product submittals Draft, submit, and track Requests for Information (RFIs) Identify possible schedule or cost impacts and communicate them to the Project Manager Request vendor quotations, prepare purchase orders, and track material deliveries and lead times Coordinate with field teams to ensure materials arrive when needed Maintain change order logs and supporting documentation Assist with change order pricing, labor reports, material costs, and subcontractor invoices Monitor project costs, budgets, labor productivity, and committed expenses Review vendor invoices and assist with monthly forecasting and cost-to-complete reporting Maintain accurate project information in Knowify Visit project sites to monitor progress, assist with coordination, and support safety and quality efforts Track punch-list completion and assemble project closeout packages Assist with as-built drawings, O&M manuals, warranties, inspection approvals, lien waivers, and retainage documentation Support estimating and bidding activities, including takeoffs, quote solicitation, and bid-package preparation
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
High school diploma or GED required Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Business Management, or a related field preferred One to three years of construction, electrical construction, internship, or project-coordination experience Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint Strong organizational and time-management skills Excellent attention to detail Clear written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and take increasing ownership of project responsibilities Ability to collaborate effectively with office and field personnel
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Electrical construction or general contracting experience Familiarity with the National Electrical Code and electrical construction methods Experience with construction schedules, procurement, estimating, or job-cost reporting Experience with Knowify, Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Viewpoint Spectrum, or similar construction-management software
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
The successful Project Engineer will: Keep RFIs, submittals, drawings, and project logs current and accurate Communicate project information to field personnel promptly Identify procurement, cost, and scheduling risks before they affect the project Maintain accurate job-cost, budget, and change-order information Provide reliable and responsive support to Project Managers and field leadership Deliver complete and timely project closeout documentation Demonstrate continuous growth toward greater project-management responsibility
