Job Overview The Town of Riverhead is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Assistant Town Engineer to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will support the planning, design, and management of civil infrastructure projects that enhance community development and sustainability. Your expertise will help ensure that projects are executed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with all regulatory standards. This position reports into the Town Engineer and will supervise a Junior Civil Engineer. This is a provisional appointment, meaning the selected candidate must sit for the next Assistant Town Engineer exam given by the Suffolk County Department of Civil Service and adhere to the "rule of three". Responsibilities Under the direction of the Town Engineer will oversee daily engineering practices for Town operations, which includes Building & Grounds (building repair, HVAC, Electrical, custodial, landscaping), street lighting, and sanitation Oversee the Town's storm water management program which includes a Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) and conducts field compliance inspections. Reviews plans and designs for Town expansion projects; makes preliminary layouts of proposed improvement; prepares engineering estimates of quantities of materials required for proposed improvements; prepares cost estimates. Assists the Town Engineer in all Capital improvement projects for the Town of Riverhead from conceptual design through project completion. Maintains liaison with the contractors, consultants and utility companies during construction of Town public works projects. Any other duties as designated by the Town Supervisor and/or their designee Preferred Experience Proven experience managing civil infrastructure projects with a focus on stormwater systems, or related fields. Skilled in CAD software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Revit, and drafting for system design schematics. Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality standards and meeting deadlines. Excellent technical writing skills for preparing reports and documentation related to engineering analyses and project progress. Ability to communicate effectively with clients, team members, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure project success. Minimum Requirements At the time of appointment, candidates must possess a Professional Engineer's License issued by NYS and maintain such license during employment in this title.

Pay:

Up to $162,000.00 per year
