Job Description

Field Engineer - Heavy Civil / Energy Infrastructure The Opportunity A rapidly growing heavy civil and utility contractor is looking to add a Field Engineer to its team for a major energy infrastructure project in the Peach Bottom, Maryland area. The company specializes in complex utility and energy infrastructure construction, with significant experience in electrical transmission and distribution, substations, duct banks, underground utilities, and renewable energy infrastructure . They have an established presence throughout the Northeast and are using this project as a springboard for continued growth across the Mid-Atlantic. This is an opportunity for an early-career construction professional to gain significant field responsibility while working alongside an experienced project team. The company puts a major emphasis on developing its people internally, providing support and mentorship while giving younger employees the opportunity to learn by doing. Responsibilities Support the Project Manager and Superintendent with day-to-day field operations. Coordinate with subcontractors, field crews, vendors, and project leadership. Assist with project documentation, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and daily reporting. Track quantities, production, materials, and project progress. Review drawings and specifications and help resolve field coordination issues. Assist with layout, quality control, inspections, and documentation as required. Support project scheduling, planning, procurement, and cost tracking. Help ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with project requirements. Develop a strong technical understanding of heavy civil, utility, and energy infrastructure construction. Take on increasing ownership of project scopes as experience and knowledge develop. Ideal Background Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering , or a related discipline preferred. Internship, co-op, or 1-3 years of experience in construction is beneficial but not required. Interest in heavy civil, utilities, electrical infrastructure, substations, underground construction, or energy projects . Strong technical aptitude with the ability to read and understand construction drawings. Organized, ambitious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced field environment. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Someone who wants responsibility early in their career rather than being limited to administrative project support. Why Consider It? The company is growing quickly and has a strong track record of developing younger employees into Project Managers and construction leaders. Field Engineers are given meaningful responsibility early, with the support of experienced project and field leadership around them. The initial assignment will be a major project in the Peach Bottom area, but the company expects this work to help establish a broader Mid-Atlantic operation . For someone interested in growing alongside a contractor entering a new market, there is significant opportunity to take on additional responsibility as the regional team expands.
