Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, and highly organized Project Engineer to join our construction team. The Project Engineer will work closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to support the successful planning and execution of construction projects. This position plays a key role in project coordination, document control, scheduling, subcontractor management, safety compliance, quality control, and cost management. The ideal candidate is a motivated problem-solver who can effectively manage multiple priorities while helping ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities Project Coordination:
Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with day-to-day project operations, planning, scheduling, and coordination to ensure project milestones and contractual requirements are met.
Subcontractor Coordination:
Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to track progress, resolve field and administrative issues, and ensure work is performed in accordance with plans, specifications, and project requirements.
RFIs & Submittals:
Prepare, track, and manage Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, shop drawings, and other project documentation. Coordinate responses with the appropriate project stakeholders and ensure timely resolution.
Scheduling & Progress Tracking:
Assist with developing, updating, and monitoring project schedules, short-term look-ahead schedules, procurement activities, and critical project milestones.
Cost & Change Management:
Support project cost tracking, change order documentation, subcontractor change requests, purchase orders, and other project financial controls.
Safety & Compliance:
Promote a strong safety culture and assist with implementation of project-specific safety plans. Support compliance with
OSHA, EM
385-1-1, owner requirements, and other applicable safety regulations.
Quality Control:
Assist with quality control activities, inspections, punch lists, and documentation to ensure construction meets contract drawings, specifications, and applicable standards.
Plans & Drawing Management:
Utilize Autodesk software to review, navigate, mark up, coordinate, and manage construction drawings and project information. Assist with identifying drawing conflicts, documenting field conditions, and communicating design or coordination issues to the project team.
Document Control:
Maintain accurate and organized project records, including drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, change orders, daily reports, and correspondence.
Meetings & Communication:
Participate in project meetings and communicate effectively with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal team members.
Project Closeout:
Assist with punch-list completion, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, warranties, closeout documentation, and turnover requirements.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field preferred. Relevant construction experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience:
3+ years of experience as a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, or similar construction role preferred.
Federal Construction:
Experience working on federal or government construction projects is highly preferred.
Autodesk Proficiency:
Must be proficient with Autodesk software and capable of reviewing, navigating, marking up, and coordinating construction drawings and project documents. Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, or similar Autodesk applications is preferred.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with construction management and scheduling software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Autodesk, or similar platforms is preferred.
Construction Knowledge:
Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, change orders, scheduling, and project documentation.
Safety Knowledge:
Familiarity with OSHA requirements, EM 385-1-1, and construction safety practices preferred.
Communication:
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, clients, and design professionals.
Organization:
Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
Problem-Solving:
Ability to identify project issues, evaluate solutions, and take initiative to support timely resolution.
Teamwork:
Self-motivated, dependable, and capable of working effectively in both office and field environments.
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
