Structural Engineer

Job Description

Position Description The Structural Engineer 1 supports the structural design, analysis, and documentation of prefabricated metal buildings and other structures. They perform calculations, assist with CAD documentation, and ensure designs follow building codes under the guidance of senior engineers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Structural Analysis Design Perform structural calculations for steel and other structural members under guidance Assist with wind, seismic, and load analyses to support code-compliant designs Develop basic structural designs and prepare technical calculation packages Design Documentation CAD Coordination Support CAD designers in creating design documents for prefabricated metal buildings Assist in preparing foundation design requirements, anchor bolt layouts, and documentation for permitting Review RFIs, submittals, and construction documents and escalate technical issues as needed Collaboration Learning Participate in design reviews and project meetings Communicate project status and technical findings to SE2 or Principal Engineer Learn and apply structural analysis software (RISA 3D, CFS11, HILTI) and company design standards Performs additional duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills Abilities Required Knowledge of structural engineering principles for metal buildings and basic load analysis Ability to perform basic structural calculations and assist with design under supervision Ability to read and interpret construction documents, drawings, and technical specifications Ability to use structural analysis software (RISA 3D, CFS11, HILTI) for design tasks Problem-solving skills to address basic structural challenges Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with guidance Preferred Knowledge of US building codes (IBC, ASCE, AISC, AISI) Basic understanding of IEEE compliance and design standards Ability to communicate technical information clearly within the team Qualifications Experience Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in structural design and analysis and at least 1 year of relevant experience is required. In lieu of a degree, equivalent relevant work experience is accepted. Travel None Physical Demands and Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk and hear. The employee regularly is required to walk and reach with hands. The employee is frequently required to sit and rarely required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee uses computer keyboards often. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee views computer monitor often.
