The El Dorado Irrigation District (EID) is seeking a detail-driven, tech-savvy Engineering Technician I/II to join our Engineering team. While this position is supported by the full class specification below, the hiring team is specifically seeking candidates whose backgrounds shine in the following two areas: Right-of-Way Experience Our ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in right-of-way and real property work, including: Researching public records to determine real property ownership, rights, assessments, liens, and encumbrances Reviewing and verifying the accuracy of legal descriptions contained in easements and property acquisition documents Supporting property transactions involving the acquisition and relinquishment of real property Interpreting maps, plans, and common descriptions of real property Responding to right-of-way inquiries from staff, the public, land developers, real estate professionals, and outside agencies GIS Experience We are equally excited to see candidates with strong geographic information systems skills, including: Building, updating, and maintaining GIS databases according to established policies and procedures Using GIS software to analyze spatial and tabular data and produce informational maps and exhibits Creating and correcting data sets, digital data layers, and spatial overlays Producing District maps using CAD and GIS, including updating utility schematics from as-built drawings Preparing polished graphic presentations for reports and visual displays If your experience aligns with one — or ideally both — of these areas, we strongly encourage you to highlight it prominently in your application materials.

THE POSITION AT A GLANCE

Under supervision, the Engineering Technician I/II performs technical field and office duties involving surveying, drafting, mapping, real property interests, and related activities. The position receives supervision from the Engineering Manager and technical and functional direction from the GIS Analyst. Engineering Technician I is the entry level in the series — ideal for candidates building directly related experience — while Engineering Technician II is the journey level, assigned the full range of duties with only occasional instruction as new or unique situations arise. Education (both levels): Equivalent to completion of an Associate's degree with coursework in mathematics, drafting, CAD, GIS, engineering, or a related field

Experience:

None required at the I level; two years of responsible experience similar to Engineering Technician I with EID for the II level

License:
