Type:

full-time Engineering Technician We are seeking an Engineering Technician to join our team and provide CADD and field support for municipal infrastructure improvement projects. This position is ideal for someone with a background in civil engineering, drafting, surveying, or construction who enjoys a combination of office-based design work and hands-on field activities. The Engineering Technician will work closely with Project Managers and Senior Engineers to develop project plans, prepare construction documents, and provide field support throughout the construction process. The position requires an understanding of basic civil engineering principles and construction methods, along with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Key Responsibilities Provide CADD drafting and design support for municipal infrastructure projects Assist with the development of engineering plans, specifications, details, and construction documents Apply basic civil engineering design principles and construction methods to project work Support Project Managers and Senior Engineers throughout the design and construction process Perform field observations and construction support activities Serve as a Resident Project Representative (RPR) on construction projects when needed Monitor construction activities and document project progress, materials, and site conditions Communicate with contractors, project staff, and clients in the field Prepare graphics, drawings, exhibits, and other materials for reports, proposals, and project interviews Review plans and field information for accuracy and completeness Travel to project sites throughout Minnesota and potentially North Dakota Maintain accurate project documentation and records Work collaboratively with engineers, technicians, surveyors, and other project team members Qualifications Associate's degree or technical education in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, Surveying, Construction, or a related field preferred Experience with CADD software; AutoCAD or Civil 3D experience is a plus Basic understanding of civil engineering design principles and construction practices Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and construction documents Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Willingness to work in the field and travel to project sites Valid driver's license What You'll Do This role offers a diverse mix of CADD/design work and field experience . You will have the opportunity to contribute to municipal infrastructure projects from initial design and plan development through construction, gaining valuable experience in both engineering and project delivery. The successful candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, technically minded, and comfortable working in both an office and outdoor construction environment.
