KC Home Solutions is looking for an experienced Residential Designer to join our growing design-build team. We aren't simply looking for someone who can create beautiful spaces. We're looking for someone who understands how great design, client relationships, budget awareness, and construction knowledge all work together to create a great experience. Our Designers guide clients through the design process—from initial concepts and layouts through selections, construction documentation, and ultimately the transition into construction. You'll work closely with our estimating and production teams to make sure what we design is not only beautiful, but buildable and aligned with the expectations we've established with our clients. This reflects the Designer's role throughout your Design, Estimating, and Production handoffs. What You'll Do Lead residential design projects from concept development through final selections and construction documentation. Build relationships with clients, listen well, and confidently guide them through design decisions. Develop layouts, renderings, cabinetry, finish selections, specifications, and complete design packages. Collaborate with our Estimator throughout design to help keep the project aligned with the client's expected investment. Work with our Associate Designer on selections, samples, documentation, vendor coordination, and project needs. Collaborate with Production to ensure drawings, selections, and specifications are accurate, complete, and ready to build. Participate in jobsite meetings and design-related construction milestones as needed. Communicate with vendors and trade partners to research products, gather technical information, and solve design challenges. Assist with Shepard Homes spec-home selections, model-home selections, and staging as needed. Stay current on new products, materials, design trends, and ideas through continuing education and involvement in the design community. Who We're Looking For You are creative, curious, organized, and practical. You enjoy working with clients and have the ability to listen to what they're trying to accomplish and guide them toward solutions that work for their home, style, and budget. You understand that successful design isn't just about creating a beautiful rendering. It's about developing something that can be accurately estimated, clearly documented, successfully built, and ultimately delivers what we promised the client. We're looking for someone who can collaborate with a team, communicate well, manage multiple projects, pay attention to the details, and take ownership of their work. Experience in high-end residential remodeling, custom homes, interior design, architecture, or residential design-build is strongly preferred. Experience with Chief Architect or similar residential design software and a working knowledge of residential construction are also valuable.
