This role is ideal for an engineer with approximately two to three years of practical civil design experience who has progressed beyond entry-level training and is ready to contribute to land development, municipal infrastructure, commercial, industrial, institutional, and public works projects with moderate supervision. As a Civil Design Engineer (EIT), you will focus on site grading and stormwater design, gaining hands-on experience with hydrology and hydraulics, storm sewer systems, detention pond design, and industry-leading software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about civil engineering and land development who are eager to build the technical judgment and qualifying experience needed to advance toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure. Responsibilities Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for commercial, residential, roadway, industrial, and public infrastructure projects. Design storm sewer systems, channels, culverts, inlets, outfalls, detention ponds, and related stormwater facilities. Develop site-grading concepts and detailed grading plans utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D. Prepare construction plans, site plans, utility plans, and erosion & sediment control plans. Coordinate with project managers, surveyors, architects, structural/MEP engineers, clients, and review agencies to ensure project accuracy and compliance. Support permitting processes and construction-phase services, including site visits and responses to Requests for Information (RFIs). Contribute to project schedules and deliverables while maintaining accurate technical records and calculations. Collaborate with senior engineers to apply drainage calculations and design standards across a variety of project types. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program required. EI/EIT certification required, or the ability to obtain Louisiana EI certification promptly. Approximately two to three years of civil engineering design experience required. Hands-on experience in hydrology/hydraulics, storm sewer design, detention pond design, and site grading strongly preferred. Solid working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D is highly desirable. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret plans, calculations, and design standards accurately. Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with project teams, clients, and review agencies. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Experience with residential subdivision design, roadway plan-and-profile work, HEC-RAS/HEC-HMS modeling, FEMA/floodplain coordination, or familiarity with Northwest Louisiana or East Texas municipalities, LADOTD, or TxDOT is a plus but not required.
