We specialize in thoughtfully designed kitchens, bathrooms, basements, whole-home renovations, and additions. By bringing design and construction together under one roof, our team creates a coordinated remodeling experience from the first concept through the final walkthrough. Our growing in-house design team and upcoming showroom make this an exciting time to build a career with AKN Interiors. AKN Interiors is seeking a creative, organized, and technically capable Residential Architectural Designer to join our growing design department. Working alongside our Lead Designer, you will help translate homeowners' ideas into attractive, practical, and buildable residential designs. This is a mid-level opportunity for someone who understands kitchen and bathroom remodeling, communicates confidently with clients, and can develop a project from early concepts through detailed construction documentation. You should be comfortable balancing creativity with real-world construction requirements and using technology to present ideas clearly. Key Responsibilities Develop conceptual designs, floor plans, elevations, renderings, and detailed construction drawings. Translate client goals, preferences, and lifestyle needs into functional and visually compelling residential spaces. Create professional design presentations, mood boards, finish concepts, and material-selection packages. Prepare accurate drawings and documentation for construction, permitting, and internal project coordination. Collaborate closely with the Senior Designer, project managers, construction team, engineers, and other project stakeholders. Review designs for feasibility, building-code considerations, and alignment with the approved project scope. Assist with project scheduling, design milestones, selections, and deliverables. Participate in client meetings, site measurements, site visits, and construction meetings. Support the project during construction to help ensure the completed work reflects the approved design. Maintain organized project records and communicate changes clearly to the appropriate team members. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a closely related field. At least two years of professional residential design experience. Residential kitchen and bathroom design experience is required. Proficiency with architectural design, drafting, rendering, and presentation software. Experience with programs such as Chief Architect, SketchUp, AutoCAD, Revit, Rhinoceros 3D, Canva, or Adobe Creative Suite. Chief Architect experience is preferred but not required; candidates experienced with comparable software should be able to learn the platform. Strong understanding of drafting, space planning, technical detailing, construction documentation, and residential building practices. Ability to interpret client ideas and develop solutions that are both beautiful and practical to build. Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Comfortable working in a technology-forward environment. Professional licensure is an asset but is not required. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for site visits. Ability to visit residential construction sites, perform field measurements, and occasionally navigate active remodeling environments. Pay and Benefits Full-time, W-2 employment
Salary:
$65,000 - $80,000 per year, based on experience. Company health insurance plan with a substantial employer contribution. 401(k) with company matching. Two weeks of paid time off annually, including one flexible week and one week of the company's scheduled holiday closure between Christmas and New Year's. Parental leave. Schedule:
