In support of our client, a professional engineering services company, we are searching for a Structural Drafter/Designer to join their team located in . This is a contract to direct assignment for 3-6 months with the possibility of direct hire with the client. Our client specializes in the design, construction, and operation of unique and complex research and development facilities, including, as examples, wind tunnels (aerospace, automotive, and motorsports), rocket test stands, climatic chambers, jet engine test cells, acoustic chambers, altitude test facilities, captive trajectory systems, and nuclear facilities. The Structural Drafter/Designer will develop and manage drawing packages and 3D models of structural projects as part of a multi-discipline team of professionals. We are looking for a structural drafter/designer who will work to ensure client satisfaction and help deliver key structural projects within scope, budget, and schedule. In this role, the Structural Drafter/Designer will work closely under the direction of the Lead Designer and Structural Engineer. This role is responsible for preparing detailed construction drawings for steel and reinforced concrete structures using structural specifications, engineering calculations, sketches, and design information according to project standards and procedures. This position requires direct communication and coordination with other disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, piping and project team members to ensure a complete and timely production of drawing packages, spreadsheets, and databases to document information related to the design.

Job requirements:

Due to federal requirements for portions of the assigned work US Citizenship is required. Requires certification of two (2) years training from a vocational school plus a minimum of 5+ years of experience. Must have working knowledge of CAE/CAD systems. Requires working knowledge in the use of drafting equipment and in the application of drafting principles (descriptive geometry, lettering, dimensioning, layout, detail, etc.). A general working knowledge of shop and field erection processes associated with structural design is a plus. Working knowledge of producing structural design and layouts is a plus (i.e., steel, concrete, beams, columns, framing plans, elevations, steel ducting, stiffeners, and connection details.) Requires working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD software. Working knowledge of 3D modeling and producing 2D construction drawings from the model is highly desirable. Able to produce drawings that adequately depict the design, are clear, concise, as free from errors as possible, and meet the job standards and specifications. Performs basic drafting responsibilities with limited assignments in support of projects. Prepares clear, accurate drawings of simple, easily visualized components from detailed sketches and/or written notes. Copies finished drawings and makes simple revisions from detailed instructions. Assists with field work associated with drawing assignment, such as field measurement and simple sketches. Assist in the preparation of bills of materials requirement lists.
