Machining is the core of this role. When the mill isn't running, you'll cross-train on a JD Squared
XR12 CNC
tube and pipe cutter, robotic welding cells, inspection, and fit-up. Training is provided on equipment-specific software and processes. This is a strong fit for a machinist who wants to grow into automation and robotics. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate Haas CNC mills, including workholding, tooling, work offsets, tool offsets, probing, and first-part setup Create, edit, troubleshoot, and optimize CNC programs using G-code and M-code Select cutting tools, feeds and speeds, depths of cut, and machining sequences based on material, geometry, and tolerance Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, weld symbols, tolerances, and GD&T Perform first-part and in-process inspection using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and indicators Program and operate the JD Squared XR12 tube cutter, including importing STEP files, verifying geometry, and assigning cutting and drilling operations Load and set up square, rectangular, and round tube, pipe, angle, and channel on the XR12 Set up Hypertherm Powermax85 SYNC plasma cutting parameters, including cartridge selection, amperage, and pierce settings Support robotic welding cells, including fixture setup, part loading, torch alignment, TCP verification, and weld parameter checks Set up and align fixtures, clamps, and workholding for machining, robotic welding, and fabrication Assist with fit-up, tack welding, deburring, drilling, and material prep as needed Troubleshoot tooling issues, dimensional variation, program errors, plasma cut quality, and fixture problems Perform operator-level preventive maintenance on assigned equipment Work with Manufacturing Engineering to improve cycle times, fixtures, tooling, and repeatability Document setups, first-part results, and process issues Required Qualifications 5 to 8 years of hands-on CNC machining experience with a focus on CNC mill setup, programming, and operation Haas CNC experience strongly preferred, with the ability to independently set up jobs, set offsets, and produce good first parts Strong working knowledge of G-code and M-code Solid understanding of cutting tools, tool holders, speeds and feeds, drilling, tapping, milling, and coolant application Ability to read complex blueprints, machining callouts, weld symbols, and GD&T Proficient with precision measuring tools Experience machining carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum Comfortable working with machine controls, digital drawings, and electronic job files Willing to learn tube processing, plasma cutting, and robotic welding High school diploma or GED Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods CAM software or
