Chipton-Ross is seeking a Calibration Technician for a contract opportunity in Buena Park, CA.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
(REQUIRED
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
): Minimum 5-15 years of calibration, metrology, inspection, or quality experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Aerospace, defense, precision machining, die casting, or similarly regulated manufacturing experience strongly preferred. Working knowledge of calibration and measurement-control principles. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection requirements. Understanding of dimensional tolerances and GD&T. Ability to properly use precision measuring equipment. Understanding of calibration intervals, equipment accuracy, resolution, measurement uncertainty, and traceability. Familiarity with calibration certificates and ISO/IEC 17025-accredited calibration laboratories. Basic understanding of AS9100D measurement and monitoring equipment requirements. Ability to identify and properly control damaged, expired, or Out-of-Tolerance measuring equipment. Strong documentation, organizational, and recordkeeping skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and computerized calibration-management systems. Ability to communicate effectively with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, suppliers, calibration laboratories, and auditors. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in an AS9100-certified aerospace/defense manufacturing facility. Experience supporting CNC machining and/or aluminum casting operations. Experience with calibration-management software. Knowledge of
ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL
Z540.3, and NIST traceability. Experience conducting OOT impact assessments. Experience with Gauge R&R and Measurement System Analysis. Familiarity with customer-specific aerospace and defense calibration requirements. Formal metrology or calibration training/certification is preferred. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain the company's calibration database and master equipment list for all inspection, measuring, and test equipment. Monitor calibration due dates and ensure equipment is calibrated before expiration. Perform internal calibration and verification activities when authorized and technically qualified. Coordinate external calibration with approved ISO/IEC 17025-accredited calibration laboratories. Review external calibration certificates for accuracy, traceability, equipment identification, calibration results, standards used, environmental conditions when applicable, and required accreditation information. Ensure calibrations are traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) or other recognized national/international measurement standards, as applicable. Maintain calibration status identification on equipment, including calibration labels and due dates. Control new measuring equipment before release for production or inspection use. Ensure equipment is properly identified and entered into the calibration system before use. Identify, segregate, and control equipment found damaged, overdue, malfunctioning, or out of tolerance. Initiate appropriate nonconformance documentation when measuring equipment is found outside acceptable calibration limits. Support evaluation of the potential impact of Out-of-Tolerance (OOT) equipment on previously inspected or accepted product. Coordinate with Quality Engineering to determine whether product recall, reinspection, or additional investigation is required following an OOT condition. Maintain complete calibration and verification records in accordance with company and customer record-retention requirements. Maintain calibration standards and ensure reference standards remain within their required calibration intervals. Ensure measuring equipment is properly stored, protected, handled, and maintained to prevent damage or deterioration. Support internal, customer, AS9100, and regulatory audits related to calibration and measurement systems. Assist employees with proper selection, handling, storage, and use of measuring equipment. Monitor equipment requiring repair or replacement and communicate risks that could affect production or inspection activities. Support Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Gauge R&R, and measurement capability studies when required. Assist Quality Engineering with determining appropriate measurement equipment based on drawing tolerances and required measurement accuracy.
