DustlessMadeSimple.com . We are a 40+ year manufacturer of Safety Solutions for Aerospace Customers. This is a small (35-40 employee) family owned business. Are you the person friends bring things to when they need them fixed right? Clayton Associates is looking for a Tool Repair Technician for our Palmetto, FL facility. This is precision work. Our pneumatic sanders run at high RPM in the hands of aircraft technicians, and the motors inside them are built to tight tolerances

• retaining clips you can barely see, bearings that get pressed on and off, shims and spacers measured in thousandths, torque values that matter.

A tool that comes back to us in pieces has to leave running like new. If you have rebuilt firearms, carburetors, watches, small engines, RC gear, fishing reels, camera bodies, or anything else where the parts are small and the order matters, you already have the hands and the patience this job needs. You do not need to have worked on air tools before. We will teach you our equipment. What we cannot teach is care. When the repair bench is caught up, you will build new tools alongside our production team

You will spend your time:

• Diagnosing returned tools

• pneumatic sanders, vacuums, hoses and other equipment
• to determine what failed and why • Tearing down and rebuilding pneumatic tool motors: rotors, vanes, bearings, seals, shaft balancers, lock rings, cooling fans and spacers • Working with an arbor press, bearing pullers, snap ring pliers and torque tools on parts that do not forgive a heavy hand • Following documented repair procedures step by step
• correct tool, correct sequence, correct torque, every time • Keeping track of small parts through a full teardown so nothing is lost, swapped or reinstalled in the wrong order • Measuring and inspecting to spec (pad runout, clearances, wear limits) and knowing when a part gets reused and when it gets replaced • Testing every repaired tool before it ships
• free speed, air consumption, vacuum performance, smooth run • Recording your findings and the work performed on each repair ticket so the customer and our team have a clear history • Identifying whether a repair is warranty or billable, and flagging repeat failures so we can fix the root cause • Cleaning, reassembling and packaging tools for return shipment • Keeping the repair bench stocked and organized, and pulling replacement parts as needed • Assembling new products alongside the production team when the repair queue is light

Qualifications:

• Genuine attention to detail

• this is the single most important qualification for this role • Steady hands and patience with small, fragile parts: clips, springs, shims, bearings, seals • Mechanical aptitude
• you enjoy troubleshooting and figuring out how something goes back together • Comfortable using precision tools and reading measurements • Must have some experience using hand tools • Must have strong communication skills • Must have good computer skills • Experience using a web browser to access job tickets and print labels • Must be dependable and responsible • Must be able to work efficiently and maintain a clean, organized workstation • Access to reliable transportation • Must be able to lift 20 pounds at a time • US work authorization (Required) • High school or equivalent (Required) • Valid US drivers license •

Preferred:

hands-on experience rebuilding or repairing precision mechanical items

• firearms and gunsmithing, small engines, carburetors, watches or clocks, bicycles, RC vehicles, fishing reels, cameras, musical instruments, automotive or equipment maintenance.
