Position Summary The Engineering Technician IV performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed and applies a broad knowledge of miniature/microminiature electronic repair techniques to support the maintenance, modification, inspection, and restoration of electronic assemblies and components. The technician selects or adapts standard procedures, methods, and equipment using fully applicable precedents and receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and technical guidance from a supervisor or engineer as needed. Recurring work is performed independently and reviewed for technical adequacy and conformity to requirements. This position specializes in Miniature/Microminiature (2M) electronic repair and is responsible for diagnosing defects, repairing printed circuit boards, restoring circuit paths, replacing components, and performing precision soldering and rework activities in accordance with military, customer, and industry standards. The successful candidate will support the operational readiness and reliability of mission-critical electronic systems while maintaining strict adherence to quality, safety, security, and workmanship requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Miniature/Microminiature (2M) Repair Perform miniature and microminiature electronic repairs on printed circuit boards, electronic assemblies, and related hardware. Remove, replace, and repair surface mount devices (SMDs), through-hole components, pads, lands, traces, and conductors. Perform precision soldering, desoldering, circuit restoration, and rework activities utilizing approved repair procedures. Inspect assemblies under magnification to identify defects, workmanship issues, and nonconforming conditions. Verify completed repairs meet customer, military, and quality standards. Technical Support and Troubleshooting Construct components, subassemblies, or simple models and adapt standard equipment as required. Troubleshoot and correct equipment malfunctions and repair deficiencies. Follow engineering drawings, technical specifications, wiring diagrams, schematics, and work instructions to construct, modify, repair, and package electronic assemblies. Assist engineers and technical personnel with troubleshooting activities and design implementation. Testing and Evaluation Conduct tests and experiments on electronic assemblies and components. Modify test setups and procedures when required to support troubleshooting and evaluation activities. Select, prepare, operate, and maintain standard test equipment. Record, analyze, and document test results and repair activities. Engineering Data Collection and Documentation Extract and compile engineering and technical data from drawings, field notes, maintenance records, technical manuals, and laboratory reports. Process and analyze data, identify errors or inconsistencies, and select appropriate methods for presenting information. Maintain accurate repair records, inspection reports, and technical documentation. Design Modification Support Assist with engineering changes and design modification efforts by gathering and compiling data related to designs, specifications, materials, and equipment configurations. Research previous equipment failures, corrective actions, and modification history. Use sound judgment and initiative to identify inconsistencies, missing information, and technical discrepancies and obtain clarification from appropriate sources. Quality, Safety, and Security Follow Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) control procedures and contamination prevention requirements. Maintain compliance with IPC, military, customer, and company workmanship standards. Adhere to all safety procedures and security requirements associated with classified work. Participate in quality assurance inspections and audits as required. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience One of the following is required: Associate degree in Electronics Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field and a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience; OR High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant electronic repair, assembly, inspection, and testing experience. Required Qualifications Must possess a current Miniature/Microminiature (2M) certification or have been previously certified. U.S. Citizen. Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance. Demonstrated experience performing miniature and microminiature electronic repairs. Proficiency reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and repair instructions. Knowledge of soldering techniques, electronic assembly processes, and circuit board repair. Experience using microscopes, soldering stations, test equipment, and other precision electronic repair tools. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Preferred Qualifications Active Secret Security Clearance.

Rework and Repair Certification. Experience supporting Department of Defense or Navy electronic systems. Experience working in military depot, laboratory, production, or repair environments. Familiarity with NAVSEA 2M and associated electronic repair standards. Physical Requirements Ability to perform detailed precision work under magnification for extended periods. Ability to distinguish colors and identify small defects and electronic components. Ability to sit, stand, bend, and reach throughout the workday. Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
