Automation Electro-Mechanical Technician II
Position Overview
M Force Partners is seeking an Automation Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technician II to support the development, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of new automated systems used within a manufacturing environment. This position will work with engineers to build and support precision electronic, mechanical, and automated equipment from prototype development through implementation.
The ideal Automation Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technician II has at least 4 years of hands-on electro-mechanical experience with strong electrical and mechanical fundamentals. This individual should be comfortable building and wiring complex control panels, interpreting electrical schematics, troubleshooting electrical components, fabricating prototypes and test fixtures, and working independently on technically complex assignments.
The Automation Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technician II will take ownership of advanced technician-level engineering activities while collaborating with engineering teams on automation equipment, prototype systems, testing procedures, calibration, and continuous development efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble, test, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair precision electronic and electro-mechanical devices
Build and wire complex electrical control panels and automated systems using engineering drawings, schematics, instructions, and established guidelines
Read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams and schematics
Route wiring according to standard wiring practices and procedures
Perform wire stripping, termination, crimping, and terminal block installation
Test completed electrical panels and troubleshoot wiring, electrical, and component issues
Identify and isolate faulty control panel components
Design, fabricate, and assemble test fixtures and prototype systems
Use multimeters, soldering and de-soldering equipment, inspection equipment, machine shop tools, hand tools, and power tools
Source electronic and mechanical components based on required technical and performance specifications
Lead or contribute to the development of equipment assembly, testing, calibration, and repair procedures
Support the development and implementation of automated equipment for manufacturing operations
Perform troubleshooting and root cause investigation on prototype and electro-mechanical systems
Maintain tools, equipment, and supplies used for engineering and development activities
Maintain component inventory for prototype and automation systems
Document technical issues, test results, and equipment performance
Communicate technical issues that could affect schedules, data accuracy, equipment reliability, or product quality
Use Excel for basic manipulation and analysis of test data
Complete technical assignments independently with minimal supervision
Collaborate with engineers and other technical team members on equipment development and troubleshooting
Follow laboratory and manufacturing safety procedures and company safety requirements
Manage multiple assignments and changing priorities within a development and manufacturing environment
Required Qualifications
Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline, or additional relevant experience in place of a degree
Minimum of 4 years of relevant electro-mechanical, automation, engineering technician, or related technical experience
Strong mechanical and electrical fundamentals
Hands-on experience assembling, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing electro-mechanical equipment
Experience building and wiring electrical control panels or similar electrical systems
Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams and schematics
Knowledge of standard wiring practices and procedures
Experience with wire stripping, termination, crimping, and terminal block installation
Ability to test and troubleshoot electrical panels and isolate faulty components
Experience using multimeters and other electrical test equipment
Experience using soldering and de-soldering equipment
Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, inspection equipment, and basic machine shop equipment
General computer proficiency including Windows, Microsoft Office, email, software installation, and basic computer setup
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for basic test data manipulation and analysis
Strong technical problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to independently complete assignments with minimal supervision
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a technical development environment
Ability to work effectively within a team-oriented engineering environment Preferred Qualifications
Experience with prototype or low-volume electro-mechanical systems
Experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment or automation system development
Experience fabricating test fixtures and prototype equipment
Experience sourcing electrical and mechanical components based on engineering specifications
Experience developing assembly, testing, calibration, or repair procedures
Experience working directly with engineers in an R D, product development, or manufacturing engineering environment Physical Requirements
Ability to move throughout a production, engineering, or light manufacturing environment
Ability to operate tools and equipment necessary to perform technician-level engineering work
Ability to communicate and exchange technical information with engineering and manufacturing personnel
