As an Automation Technician, you will be responsible for the upkeep, troubleshooting, and enhancement of electrical and automation components throughout our production site. You will serve as a key contributor to our operational success by utilizing your technical skills to program, maintain, and repair automated machinery, which helps maximize system performance while reducing equipment downtime. Core Duties Demonstrate self-motivation by managing tasks independently with little oversight. Help maintain a safe working environment for the entire team by following GMPs, conducting safety audits, and upholding strict sanitation standards to ensure product quality. Maintain clear and consistent communication regarding project status and technical issues with management, vendors, and production staff. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the facility's electrical and instrumentation team members. Utilize diagnostic tools, such as multimeters and software, to identify and resolve the root causes of electrical malfunctions. Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure rapid and effective resolution of technical problems. Promote a culture of safety by strictly adhering to all company policies and integrating health considerations into every task. Ensure that all facility operations remain in full compliance with regulatory standards. Analyze and interpret technical manuals and electrical schematics to support maintenance activities. Diagnose and resolve process-related challenges using automation software. Troubleshoot hardware malfunctions related to touchscreens and programmable logic controllers. Utilize advanced networking skills to diagnose and repair control system connectivity issues. Partner with the IT department to support and maintain automation server infrastructure. Develop training materials and user guides to help educate electrical technicians on system operations. Proactively identify opportunities to enhance automation processes and overall system efficiency. Determine necessary program modifications and coordinate with Corporate Controls for implementation. Offer consultation and support to engineering and management teams during project execution. Foster team growth by providing leadership and technical support to electrical technicians. Maintain, organize, and back up all essential automation documentation, including schematics, programs, and manuals. Complete additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by leadership. Qualifications Completion of a 2-year technical or college program, or an equivalent mix of relevant training and professional experience. At least 5 years of industrial electrical experience within a manufacturing setting, ideally in food processing. Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with PLC programming. Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience working with Rockwell/Allen Bradley automation systems. Proficiency in reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical procedures, electrical schematics, and maintenance instructions. Experience working with pneumatics and mechanical systems is considered a plus. Possession of a Journeyman or Apprentice electrical license is preferred.
