Support operations, maintenance, fabrication, testing, and repair of antenna motion-control electronics and fiber-optic hardware for the VLA and VLBA. Work at a bench and in the field, including climbing antennas at the VLA site. Use electronic test equipment and hand tools to troubleshoot systems, maintain equipment, and support upgrades. Responsibilities Construct, adapt, calibrate, and test assigned equipment. Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain servo, fiber-optic, and antenna-control systems. Use electronic test equipment and hand tools to inspect and repair system components. Conduct tests and experiments, modify test setups as needed, and record or interpret results. Fabricate, assemble, and test prototype or production units and devise test equipment. Coordinate technical procedures with engineers, source parts, and prepare technical reports and schematics.
