JOB SUMMARY
The Engineering Technician will support manufacturing operations through process improvement, new product introduction, troubleshooting, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role serves as a critical link between Engineering and Production, helping ensure manufacturing processes are efficient, repeatable, and capable of meeting customer quality and delivery requirements. The Engineering Technician works across multiple manufacturing disciplines including SMT, Through-Hole Assembly, Selective Soldering, Conformal Coating, Test Systems, Box Build, and Material Handling.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Process & Manufacturing Support Assist process engineers in developing, validating, and improving manufacturing processes Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities and production launches Participate in process qualification and validation activities Support implementation of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) Develop and maintain process documentation and work instructions Assist in the creation and maintenance of PFMEAs, Control Plans, and manufacturing procedures Continuous Improvement Collect, analyze, and report production data Support yield improvement and defect reduction initiatives Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement projects Conduct process studies, capacity evaluations, and time studies Assist in identifying opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and throughput Production & Quality Support Troubleshoot process-related production issues Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities Support internal audits and customer quality initiatives Assist with fixture, tooling, and equipment implementation project Train operators and manufacturing personnel on new processes and procedures Perform related duties as required or assigned.
SKILLS, ABILITIES, & QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or related technical field, or equivalent experience Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience Strong mechanical and analytical aptitude Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation Preferred Qualifications Experience in electronics manufacturing Experience supporting SMT, Through-Hole, or Box Build operations Familiarity with IPC standards and electronics assembly processes Experience with statistical analysis and process improvement methodologies Skills & Competencies Process troubleshooting and problem solving Data collection and analysis Statistical Process Control (SPC) Root cause analysis methodologies Manufacturing documentation control Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles Strong communication and teamwork abilities Effective organizational and time management skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to stand, sit, or move throughout the production floor for extended periods Manual dexterity for handling small electronic components Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
