Position Summary As an Engineering Shop Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the engineering team during the testing and validation of products and systems. You will assist in conducting tests, recording results, and providing valuable insights to ensure quality and performance standards are met. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with engineers and gain hands-on experience in the engineering testing field. Essential Functions The essential responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Assist engineers in developing, implementing, and executing test plans for various engineering projects. Conduct tests on prototypes and products to evaluate performance and compliance with specifications. Prepare test setups, operate test equipment, and utilize software tools for data collection and analysis. Record and document test results accurately, ensuring data integrity and compliance with established protocols. Identify, troubleshoot, and report any issues or anomalies encountered during testing. Collaborate with team members to analyze test data and provide feedback on product performance and improvements. Maintain a well-organized testing environment, including inventory management of tools and supplies. Support the development of test documentation, including reports and manuals. Participate in team meetings to discuss project progress, challenges, and solutions. Required Qualifications Basic understanding of engineering principles and practices. HS Diploma, technical certificate, or associate degree. 1-3 Years in testing, shop work or engineering support. Excel, data acquisition tools and ERP familiarity. Proficiency in using standard testing equipment and software tools. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail to ensure accurate data collection and reporting. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to follow instructions and adapt to changing priorities. Standing and walking for extended periods while working in the shop, test area, or lab. Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching to set up tests, access equipment, or handle prototypes. Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment, tools, and test materials typically up to 40-50 lbs (you can adjust based on your environment). Manual dexterity for operating tools, assembling components, wiring, and handling small parts. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and test equipment safely and effectively. Visual acuity to read measurements, interpret data, inspect components, and monitor test setups. Ability to work in environments with noise, vibration, or machinery, following all PPE and safety protocols. Occasional climbing or working on elevated platforms depending on equipment setup. Ability to wear required PPE (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, etc.) for extended periods. Ability to move between shop, lab, and office areas as needed for documentation and collaboration.
