Fiber Technician II /
Fiber Splicer Location:
FIRST LOCATION
Mackenzie, BC, Canada Contract Length:
3-6 Month Contract (Extension Potential)

Must be a U.S. Citizen with a Valid Passport Job Overview Insight Global is seeking a Fiber Technician II / Fiber Splicer to support fiber optic infrastructure projects in a fast-paced field environment. This individual will be responsible for the installation, splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of fiber optic networks while working independently on complex tasks and supporting overall project execution. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with fiber optic cabling, fusion splicing, fiber testing, and network infrastructure deployments. This person will also assist with mentoring junior technicians, collaborating with internal teams and vendors, and ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently. Responsibilities Install, route, terminate, and splice fiber optic cabling. Perform fusion splicing and fiber testing using industry-standard equipment. Troubleshoot and resolve fiber optic network issues. Interpret splice diagrams, fiber schematics, and technical documentation. Document test results and maintain project records. Support project delivery while maintaining quality and safety standards. Collaborate with internal teams, customers, and vendors. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians as needed. Required Qualifications 2+ years of experience in fiber optic, telecommunications, or network infrastructure environments. Hands-on experience with fiber optic cable installation, termination, routing, and fusion splicing. Experience with fiber testing and troubleshooting using: OTDRs Light Source/Power Meters Visual Fault Locators (VFLs) Fiber Certification Equipment Strong understanding of fiber optic standards, cable management, pathway installation, and industry best practices. Ability to read and interpret splice diagrams, test reports, and technical documentation. Valid/Unrestricted US Passport Preferred Qualifications Associate's degree or equivalent technical or military experience. Experience with single-mode and multimode fiber environments. Knowledge of MPO/MTP connectivity and fiber distribution systems. Experience supporting both Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) fiber networks. Familiarity with structured cabling systems, including both copper and fiber infrastructure.

CFOT FOA BICSI OSHA NFPA 70E
Pay:
$28.07 - $33.81 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 60.0 per week
