Job Description

Akkodis is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for a Contract with a client in Mountain View, CA. The ideal candidate will lead the development and validation of HV battery systems, power distribution architectures, and safety-critical electrical components to ensure performance, compliance, and system reliability.
Rate Range:
$90/Hour to $114/Hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. Electrical Design Engineer Job Responsibilities include: Lead the design and development of high-voltage battery systems, power distribution architecture, and charging solutions for safety-critical eVTOL propulsion systems. Perform electrical analysis and simulations, including power budgets, voltage drop calculations, fault current studies, and thermal-electrical modeling to optimize system performance. Define grounding, shielding, EMI/EMC, and high-voltage safety strategies, including HVIL, isolation monitoring, and circuit protection schemes. Drive validation and testing activities, including high-current characterization, insulation resistance testing, and dielectric withstand (HiPot) verification. Conduct system-level trade studies and Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA) to improve electrical efficiency, reliability, and compliance with aerospace safety standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers to develop technical specifications, manage component integration, and support aircraft certification efforts.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field. 8+ years of experience designing high-voltage (>400V) electrical systems in aerospace, EV propulsion, or heavy transportation industries. Deep expertise in HV power distribution, battery electrical systems, BMS hardware, and electrical analysis tools such as MATLAB/Simulink and SPICE. Proven experience leading HV system architecture, EMI/EMC compliance, safety-critical electrical design, validation testing, and certification activities in regulated environments. Pay Details:
