Job Description

About Us We are a growing lighting company that designs and manufactures architectural luminaires, from pendants to linear slot to track, out of our Chicago-area headquarters. Our minimalist product design complements architectural form, and you'll find our fixtures across commercial, residential and multi-family spaces where the lighting needs to look as good as it's engineered. We're looking for an Electrical Engineer who can take a fixture from a designer's sketch to a product that ships, and who wants a real hand in shaping our engineering function. You'll often be the only engineer in the room, which means real ownership from day one. If you'd rather build and test than sit in meetings, and you're as excited about what ships and sells as what's clever, we'd like to meet you. What You'll Do Partner with our design team early, so ambitious fixture concepts are reliable, safe and manufacturable from the start Adapt and re-engineer vendor fixtures and components, from light boards to drivers to dimming and controls, to meet our exact spec Take new products from concept through schematic, layout, prototyping and testing to a production-ready design Build and maintain BOMs, technical drawings and manufacturing documentation Design test fixtures and QC checks that catch problems early in the process Troubleshoot and improve existing fixture electronics, thermal performance and dimming or control compatibility Jump in on post-sale troubleshooting when a fixture in the field needs a fix Navigate UL/ETL and other compliance requirements as part of new product development Own your projects end to end, including the parts that fall outside a typical engineering job description What Makes You Successful You're a builder first, comfortable figuring things out in support of your team.
You likely have:
A degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience Comfort reading, modifying and troubleshooting existing schematics and PCB layouts, not just designing new ones from a blank page A track record of taking projects from idea to working prototype, not just coursework or simulations Curiosity about the business side of engineering, cost, manufacturability and what a customer actually needs, not only what's technically elegant Good instincts for talking a customer or rep through a problem, not just solving it solo Comfort being the only engineer on a project, and the initiative to solve problems without waiting to be told how Nice to Have A few years in the lighting industry, enough to know the technical realities, without being too locked into one way of doing things Experience with LED drivers, dimming protocols or control systems, whether color-changing or third-party ecosystems like Lutron Familiarity with UL/ETL compliance or working with test labs Experience owning a product through its full lifecycle, not just one piece of it Instincts and initiative that count for more than a long track record Why Us? Real ownership. You'll design something and see it ship, not just review someone else's work Direct access to leadership and no bureaucracy to wade through An organization dedicated to performance-first, specifier-trusted fixtures, with the thoughtful design details that set us apart We're growing fast, and there's real opportunity for the people who grow with us Compensation & Benefits $80,000/year and up, based on experience Medical insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid Time Off Ready to join us?
