If you are an Electrical Engineer with experience in controls engineering and embedded hardware/software knowledge, please read on!
We design and manufacture control systems used aboard workboats, tugboats, offshore vessels, yachts, and military craft for shipyards and operators around the world. Our work is recognized within the marine industry for reliability and long service life. What sets us apart is our in-house engineers and technicians who design each system to meet exacting specifications and stand behind it with hands-on field support long after installation. Joining our team means real engineering work that keeps vessels running safely at sea.
Position OverviewMid-level electrical engineer responsible for designing, developing, and supporting electrical and electronic systems for industrial and maritime products. The role focuses on PCB and circuit design, motor control systems, industrial networking, and producing detailed documentation (one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, ECNs/ECOs). The engineer will participate in design reviews, DFMEA and DVT activities, support manufacturing and field commissioning, and collaborate with mechanical, firmware, and systems teams to deliver reliable, compliant products.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop schematics and PCB layouts for embedded and industrial control systems, ensuring manufacturability and testability.
Create and validate circuit designs for power distribution, signal conditioning, and control subsystems.
Develop, troubleshoot, and document motor control systems including VFD selection/integration, starters, and protective devices.
Author and maintain one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and detailed panel wiring instructions for production and field service.
Program and troubleshoot PLC ladder logic and related control sequences; work with Siemens, Allen-Bradley or equivalent platforms as required.
Design and integrate industrial networking solutions using RS-485, RS-232, CANbus, Fieldbus and Ethernet technologies; perform network diagnostics and commissioning.
Lead DFMEA and participate in DVT/validation testing; plan and execute electrical test procedures and support lab debug activities.
Prepare and manage ECNs/ECOs, maintain accurate BOMs, and update technical documentation to support design changes and manufacturing releases.
Collaborate with embedded/firmware engineers to ensure electrical and software interfaces are robust and validated.
Support production handoff, supplier selection and evaluation, and provide technical assistance during assembly and field commissioning, including maritime deployments.
Ensure designs meet applicable industry and maritime standards and assist with certification activities as required.
Mentor junior engineers and technicians; contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional design reviews.
QualificationsBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) required.4+ years of practical experience in electrical design; mid-level (Electrical Engineer II) or similar role preferred.
Proven experience with PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD, Eagle) and schematic capture/layout workflows.
Strong circuit design skills, including power electronics, signal conditioning and embedded power distribution.
Hands-on experience with motor controls, VFDs, panel wiring, and creating one-line and wiring diagrams.
Experience programming or troubleshooting PLC ladder logic and industrial controls.
Familiarity with industrial networking protocols and interfaces: RS-485, RS-232, CANbus, Fieldbus, and general Ethernet-based networks.
Experience with ECN/ECO processes, DFMEA, and participating in DVT or validation testing.
Exposure to marine or maritime systems and related compliance/certification requirements is strongly preferred.
Embedded design experience or close collaboration with firmware teams is desired.
Proficient with test equipment (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, multimeters) and comfortable performing bench-level debug.
Excellent technical communication skills, ability to work cross-functionally, and willingness to travel to customer or field sites as needed.
Professional Engineer (PE) or relevant certifications and experience with safety and quality systems (ISO, IPC) are a plus.
