Delaware, OH, United States Job Description Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and curious Innovation Lab Engineering Intern to support technical initiatives within the lab. This role provides exposure to cutting-edge power and thermal management technologies, laboratory testing operations, and the application of AI tools to improve engineering workflows. The ideal candidate has a mechanical or electrical engineering background, strong problem-solving skills, and an interest in learning how emerging AI technologies can enhance engineering productivity, knowledge sharing, and decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Work with engineers and lab personnel to understand test activities, equipment, procedures, and operational workflows. Develop and maintain a custom AI agent that serves as a knowledge assistant that improves access to technical documentation, test procedures, engineering standards, and institutional knowledge. Expand the agent's capabilities to enable it to assist with system troubleshooting and data analysis. Evaluate and improve AI assistant performance through prompt engineering, retrieval optimization, and user feedback analysis.
Requirements:
- Must be pursuing a degree in Engineering, Physics, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field. Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills High attention to detail and a demonstrated work ethic Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal formats Willingness to learn quickly in a hands-on, fast-paced environment and deliver high-quality work Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively in a team setting Strong foundation in mechanical/electrical engineering fundamentals, with the ability to apply first-principles reasoning and systems thinking to analyze complex, interconnected systems.
