STAFF ENGINEER
Overview Staff Engineers work under the direction of senior team members and technical staff to research, plan, design, and prepare detailed construction drawings. This is an entry level role for engineers who have graduated from a civil engineering program and are working toward obtaining a professional license to practice engineering. Responsibilities Design site layouts and prepare conceptual and schematic plans based on code requirements and sound engineering principles. Conduct research related to zoning codes, design criteria, infrastructure, jurisdictional requirements and permit processes. Prepare site investigation and due diligence reports. Design, perform calculations, and prepare construction drawings and reports based on direction provided by senior team members. Learn and apply company design standards and best practices to all project deliverables. Coordinate with utility providers for storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water, gas, electric, and telecommunications services. Make drawing revisions based on feedback received from other team members and jurisdictional reviewers. Attend project meetings with internal and external project team members. Prepare permit submittal packages. Perform site visits to obtain necessary data for design purposes. Learn jurisdictional codes and best practices and apply them to project designs. Ask questions, solicit feedback, and learn from your experiences to continuously improve your skills and knowledge in engineering.
Education / Skills
/ Experience Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field. EIT Certification / Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE). Experience in Autodesk Civil 3D (preferred). Proficiency in Microsoft 365 products. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Proactive and engaging with a strong attention to detail.
