JOB FUNCTION

Provide advanced electrical engineering expertise and technical leadership for manufacturing equipment, automation systems, and facility electrical infrastructure at APA Solar Racking. This position serves as the plant's primary electrical engineering resource, supporting equipment reliability, driving automation and process improvements, leading capital projects, and enhancing overall manufacturing performance. The Senior Electrical Engineer partners with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams to develop and implement solutions that improve safety, productivity, quality, and operational efficiency while supporting the continued growth of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Lead electrical engineering and automation projects to improve safety, quality, productivity, and equipment reliability. Design, develop, and implement electrical and controls solutions for manufacturing equipment and processes. Provide advanced troubleshooting support for PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, robotics, motion control systems, sensors, and industrial networks. Identify and execute continuous improvement opportunities that reduce downtime and increase operational efficiency. Manage electrical aspects of capital projects, including equipment selection, budgeting, installation, commissioning, and startup. Support and improve plant power distribution systems, controls architecture, and automation platforms. Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues. Develop electrical standards, documentation, preventive maintenance strategies, and best practices for the facility.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, controls, and automation. Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting, preferably Allen-Bradley/Rockwell platforms. Working knowledge of HMIs, industrial networking, Ethernet/IP, VFDs, servo systems, and robotics. Ability to read, create, and modify electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts. Strong project management and organizational skills. Proven ability to perform root cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization. Ability to prioritize multiple projects while maintaining a strong focus on safety and operational excellence.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline required. Minimum of 5-10 years of electrical engineering experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Experience supporting automated production equipment, controls systems, and facility electrical infrastructure. Demonstrated experience leading electrical, automation, or capital improvement projects. Experience with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, robotics, industrial networking, and control systems preferred.
