Serve as an Instrumentation Specialist for a high-impact, direct-funded aerospace project focused on data collection for critical FAA and military certification requirements. This role is responsible for researching, designing, and integrating advanced data acquisition systems with mechanical and aircraft systems. Ideal candidates will possess a solid mix of hardware design intuition and hands-on testing experience, specifically with sensors and calibration standards. Description - Electrical Engineer II (Instrumentation Specialist): Design and integrate complex instrumentation systems into aircraft to accurately capture essential flight test data. Maintain and document rigorous NIST standards for measurement verification and control all internal calibration processes. Manage hardware and software requirements for critical data acquisition systems and IADS real-time telemetry displays. Support live flight testing operations through the strategic selection, placement, and installation of specialized sensors. Collaborate closely within a multi-disciplinary engineering and product development team to ensure seamless aircraft certification. Qualifications - Electrical Engineer II (Instrumentation Specialist): Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline. Typically 2+ years of relevant professional engineering experience, preferably within the Aerospace and Defense sector. Mandatory, hands-on experience selecting, applying, and working with strain gauges and accelerometers. Strong foundational understanding of electrical engineering principles and proficiency with Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tools. Preferred experience with telemetry systems, Curtiss Wright hardware, IADS software, and model-based definition. Familiarity with aerospace communication protocols (MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, CAN Bus, Ethernet) and electrical component manufacturing processes is a plus. Physical ability to frequently walk, stand, climb stairs, utilize fine motor skills for electrical assembly, and occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.
