Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Engineer II - Relay to support substation relaying and metering design, NERC compliance, system protection, misoperation investigations, and event analysis. This role involves applying engineering techniques to power system protection and communication equipment configuration under moderate supervision.

Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop accurate substation relaying and metering designs, including drawings, specifications, and material lists.

Perform relay settings calculations, coordination studies, and fault analysis.

Prepare and review relay settings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.

Support commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of protective relaying equipment.

Analyze system disturbances and outages and recommend corrective actions.

Coordinate with operations, engineering, and field personnel on relay-related projects.

Ensure compliance with NERC, IEEE, and applicable industry standards.

Provide technical guidance and support to engineers and technicians.

Assist with system planning, upgrades, and protection and control capital projects.

QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Degrees in Mechanical or Civil Engineering may also be considered.3-5 years of experience in protective relaying or power system engineering.

Working knowledge of:

Protective relays and relay coordination principles.

Fault analysis and power system protection methods.

SEL, GE, ABB, Siemens, or similar relay platforms.

One-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one preferred.

Experience with transmission and distribution systems, SCADA, and NERC compliance preferred.
