The Dover Area School District is seeking a skilled Maintenance Specialist with experience in commercial electrical work to support the operation and maintenance of district facilities. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that building systems are safe, functional, and operating efficiently to support students and staff. Position Overview The Maintenance Specialist performs a variety of maintenance and repair tasks with a focus on electrical systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with commercial electrical work and the ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain building systems independently. Key Responsibilities Perform maintenance and repair of electrical systems in district facilities Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues in a timely manner Assist with installation, repair, and replacement of lighting, wiring, and related systems Perform general maintenance tasks including plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC support as needed Complete work orders efficiently and accurately Support building setup, breakdown, and event preparation Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized manner Ensure compliance with safety standards and district policies Qualifications Experience with commercial electrical systems required High school diploma or equivalent required Vocational or technical training in electrical work preferred Ability to read and interpret basic electrical schematics and diagrams Experience with general maintenance and repair work Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and manage time effectively Preferred Qualifications Electrical certification or license (preferred, not required) Experience working in a school or institutional setting Compensation & Schedule Full-time position Competitive hourly rate based on experience District-wide assignment Standard work schedule with occasional flexibility as needed Why Join Dover Area School District Stable, year-round employment Opportunity to work across multiple facilities Supportive team environment Meaningful work supporting students and staff How to Apply To be considered, candidates must apply through the Dover Area School District Online Application System.
