Build the Controls Behind One-of-a-Kind Industrial Machinery CAM Innovation is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Controls Engineer to take ownership of the electrical and controls systems for custom industrial machinery from initial concept through design, programming, machine startup, testing, installation, and commissioning. This is not a desk-only controls position. Our engineers work directly with mechanical engineering, fabrication, assembly, service, project management, and customers to turn a machine concept into working equipment. The right person will be equally comfortable developing a control system, troubleshooting equipment on the manufacturing floor, participating in a customer runoff, and explaining a technical issue clearly to a customer. We are looking for an experienced engineer who can work independently, solve problems, communicate effectively, and take ownership of getting the machine across the finish line. We design and build custom equipment serving industries including railroad, mining, automotive, renewable energy, and aerospace. Because our machines are engineered to meet individual customer applications, our engineers routinely solve new and challenging problems rather than repeatedly designing the same equipment. What You'll Do As a Senior Electrical Controls Engineer, you will have responsibility for the electrical and controls portion of assigned machine projects.

You will:

Design complete electrical and control systems based on customer specifications, machine requirements, and applicable standards. Develop and program PLC-based machine control systems, with an emphasis on Allen-Bradley platforms. Develop and configure HMI systems and operator interfaces. Select and size electrical and controls components, including PLC hardware, motors, drives, sensors, safety devices, and related equipment. Develop and review electrical schematics, panel layouts, I/O requirements, and Bills of Materials. Work closely with mechanical engineering, fabrication, assembly, electrical technicians, service, and project management throughout the machine build. Participate directly in machine startup, debugging, testing, and customer Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT). Troubleshoot electrical, controls, programming, communication, and integration issues on new and existing equipment. Communicate directly with customers during technical discussions, design reviews, runoff, installation, commissioning, and service activities. Support field installation and commissioning at customer facilities when required. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other members of the engineering and controls team. Manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining commitments to project schedules and customer delivery dates. Maintain accurate technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications 5+ years of progressively responsible industrial electrical controls or automation engineering experience; 7+ years strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to independently design and implement machine control systems from concept through startup and commissioning. Strong PLC programming experience, preferably with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix and Studio 5000 . Strong understanding of electrical controls, wiring, control panels, component selection, motors, VFDs, sensors, safety circuits, and industrial communications. Hands-on experience with machine startup, debugging, troubleshooting, FAT, installation, and/or commissioning. Ability to diagnose problems systematically and develop practical solutions in a manufacturing environment. Excellent spoken and written English communication skills , including the ability to explain technical information clearly to customers, engineers, technicians, manufacturing personnel, and other stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to participate effectively in customer-facing technical discussions, design reviews, equipment runoffs, installations, or commissioning activities. Ability to work effectively in a small, highly collaborative engineering and manufacturing environment. Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines with limited supervision. Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally for customer installations, commissioning, and technical support. Education Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a closely related engineering discipline preferred. Equivalent demonstrated industrial controls and custom-machine experience will also be considered. This position requires daily, in-person collaboration at our Hanover, Pennsylvania facility with engineers, technicians, machinists, fabricators, assemblers, project managers, and service personnel. This is not a remote position. Our projects frequently require engineers to move between design work and the manufacturing floor as machines progress through assembly, debugging, testing, and runoff. The successful candidate will be someone who enjoys that environment and is comfortable working collaboratively with people from different technical disciplines and experience levels.
