Sr. Substation Physical Designer
Job Description
Job Summary Our client is hiring a Substation Physical Designer to work in a collaborative project team environment alongside engineers and other designers supporting high- and extra-high-voltage substation projects. This role is responsible for developing detailed physical design drawings and plans while applying client standards and incorporating vendor and field information into design deliverables. Responsibilities Prepare substation physical design drawings, including: General arrangement drawings Electrical equipment plans Section views and elevations Detailed bills of material Lightning stroke shielding plans Grounding plans Conduit, electrical connection, and grounding details Below-grade conduit and raceway plans Control building equipment, cable tray, lighting, grounding plans, and sections Interpret and incorporate vendor data into design packages Apply client standards and specifications to all design work Perform walkdowns at client facilities to support design accuracy and constructability Collaborate with engineers and other designers to support project objectives Qualifications Required Qualifications 10 or more years of substation physical design experience Associate's Degree in Drafting, or a high school diploma with two or more years of drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation Ability to visualize components and assemblies in three dimensions without computer assistance Preferred Qualifications Associate's Degree in Computer Aided Design Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles used in producing technical plans, drawings, and models Understanding of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including the relationship of electrical equipment within a technical design Additional Information Employment-based work authorization sponsorship is not available for this position.
