Step into a day as our Electrical Designer Morning stand-up wraps, and you're sketching out a control panel layout for a new conveyor line. By mid-day you're running power load calculations and checking code compliance before finalizing on-machine wiring details. In the afternoon, you're reviewing component selections (PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, sensors) with a panel builder, then hopping on a call with a client and a contractor to align on schedules and field constraints. You close the day updating schematics in AutoCAD Electrical and sharing a clean package with the team—always keeping a positive, professional tone. Core responsibilities Create detailed control panel drawings and on-equipment wiring diagrams for conveyor and material-handling systems (and occasionally robotics). Perform power engineering calculations to size feeders, protection, and distribution appropriately. Engineer designs to meet applicable electrical standards, codes, and best practices. Architect systems using PLCs, VFDs, and HMIs; produce clean, readable electrical schematics. Evaluate, select, and specify electrical components and assemblies fit for industrial environments. Coordinate closely with clients, contractors, panel builders, and cross-discipline teammates. Build strong, long-term relationships with clients and vendors while supporting an upbeat, professional workplace. Minimum qualifications Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and/or Autodesk Inventor. 3-5+ years of electrical design experience within industrial control systems. 2+ years designing for manufacturing conveyor/material-handling systems or robotics.
