The Electrical Designer develops and maintains electrical drawings, diagrams, and Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs) that support shipboard and shore-based electrical systems, primarily in support of U.S. Navy ship alteration, habitability, and other HM&E projects. Working closely with electrical and systems engineers, the designer translates engineering requirements, field data, and reference drawings into accurate, standards-compliant design packages used for fabrication, installation, and testing.

Develop electrical design products from engineering input, shipcheck data, vendor documentation, and existing drawings. Perform cable routing, cable schedules, and interference checks to support installation design. Support electrical load analysis, equipment layout, and bills of material. Check drawings developed by others in accordance with
ISO 9001
Quality Management System (QMS) requirements, and ensure compliance with applicable NAVSEA, military, and industry standards (e.g., MIL-STD, IEEE, NEC as applicable). Coordinate with engineers, production personnel, and customers to resolve design issues and incorporate review comments. Maintain drawing configuration control, revision history, and documentation in accordance with program and quality requirements.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
High School Diploma or equivalent; Associates or Bachelors degree in drafting/design technology, electrical engineering technology, or a related discipline preferred.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design/drafting, preferably supporting U.S. Navy shipboard electrical systems or other marine, shipboard, defense, or heavy-industrial environments. Proficiency with AutoCAD (AutoCAD Electrical a plus). Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical references. Working knowledge of electrical systems, components, and installation practices. Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation discipline, with excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and analytical skills. U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. Ability to travel (20-40%) as required. Must qualify for or currently hold Secret Clearance.
