Job Description

Overview (Contingent) This mid-level engineering position supports requirements development, management, and traceability activities for defense and strategic systems programs at Cape Canaveral, FL. The Engineer III applies proven engineering skills and hands-on experience with IBM Rational DOORS (Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System) or similar tools to capture, manage, and baseline program requirements throughout the system lifecycle. The candidate will collaborate with systems engineers, program managers, and government counterparts to ensure requirements are complete, traceable, and verifiable across all program phases. This position requires an active Secret security clearance and a demonstrated ability to operate effectively within a structured DoD acquisition environment. Responsibilities Develop, manage, and maintain system and subsystem requirements using IBM Rational DOORS. Establish and maintain requirements traceability matrices (RTMs) linking requirements to design artifacts and test cases. Participate in requirements reviews, walkthroughs, and verification/validation planning sessions. Author and update requirements documentation, specifications, and interface control documents (ICDs). Coordinate with systems engineers, test teams, and Integrated Product Team (IPT) leads to ensure requirements alignment across the program. Identify and resolve requirements conflicts, ambiguities, and gaps in a timely manner. Support configuration management of requirements baselines in DOORS and associated program tools. Prepare and present requirements status briefings to program managers and government stakeholders. Assist in developing test procedures and verification methods tied to individual requirements. Support formal program reviews — including SRR, PDR, CDR, and TRR — as the requirements subject matter expert (SME). Required Qualifications Minimum 7 years of engineering experience in the defense, aerospace, or a closely related technical field. Minimum 3-5 years of direct, hands-on experience with IBM Rational DOORS for requirements management in a program environment. Active Secret security clearance required at time of hire. Strong understanding of systems engineering processes, including SE lifecycle management, the V-model, and requirements decomposition. Experience with requirements traceability, verification planning, and baseline configuration management. Excellent written communication skills with demonstrated ability to write clear, concise, and testable engineering requirements. US Citizens Only No Green Card Holders, Visa Holders, or Sponsorships are available. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Physics, or a related STEM discipline. Experience with DOORS Next Generation (DOORS NG) or other Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools (e.g., MagicDraw, Cameo Systems Modeler). Familiarity with DoD acquisition standards and technical guidance, including MIL-STD-31000, MIL-STD-499, and
IEEE 15288.
Knowledge of strategic weapon systems, naval systems, or space launch programs. INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) or equivalent systems engineering certification. Specialized Experience
IBM DOORS
Minimum 3-5 years of direct experience using DOORS for requirements authoring, management, and traceability in a defense or aerospace program environment. Candidate must demonstrate proficiency in module management, link sets, views, and baseline operations. Engineering 7 or more years of applied systems or discipline engineering experience on DoD programs or technically complex development efforts. Experience must reflect active participation across multiple phases of the program lifecycle. Security Clearance An Active Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Candidates must be able to maintain clearance eligibility throughout the duration of program support. Candidates with a clearance in a lapsed or inactive status will not be considered. All personnel must comply with applicable security protocols and government site access requirements at Cape Canaveral, FL. About the Position This is a full-time, on-site position located at Cape Canaveral, FL. All personnel must comply with applicable security protocols, base access requirements, and government site policies in effect at the assigned facility. Some travel may be required to support program activities at other government or contractor facilities. This position is in support of strategic national defense programs and requires a high degree of professionalism, discretion, and mission focus. Pay:
$120,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
