Job Description

Field Quality Engineer responsible for advanced diagnostics, field issue resolution, product quality improvement, reliability analysis, and corrective action support. Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field Minimum 5 years of experience with diesel engines, powertrain systems, diagnostics, product quality, field engineering, technical service, or a related area Experience troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems Experience supporting customers, dealers, technicians, or OEM environments Experience performing root-cause analysis and developing corrective actions Experience collecting, documenting, and analyzing technical field data Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications Experience using diagnostic software tools Ability to travel extensively throughout an assigned territory and other locations Valid driver's license Ability to operate personal and rental vehicles for business travel Preferred Skills Advanced knowledge of diesel engine and aftertreatment technologies Experience with commercial vehicles, agricultural equipment, construction equipment, power generation, or off-highway applications Experience in quality engineering, warranty analysis, technical service, field service, or reliability engineering Experience with structured problem-solving methods including 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, FMEA, or Six Sigma Knowledge of warranty analysis, performance metrics, reliability trends, and corrective-action processes Professional engineering certification or technical certifications related to diesel engines and diagnostics Experience with telematics systems Experience with data acquisition tools Italian or Spanish language capability Job Responsibilities Provide diagnostic guidance for complex, high-priority, and unresolved field concerns Perform advanced diagnostics on mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems Validate containment actions and corrective solutions for escalated field issues Support engineering investigations and validation of technical hypotheses Document field concerns using logs, videos, freeze-frame data, telematics data, duty-cycle information, and operating conditions Escalate critical field issues with supporting technical evidence Maintain issue-tracking records and issue master data Participate in root-cause and corrective-action reviews Gather customer and dealer feedback related to product performance and field conditions Translate field operating conditions into technical data for engineering and quality investigations Support early-warning activities for new product launches and selected fleets Monitor emerging field issues and communicate technical findings to applicable teams Support corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, reliability, and uptime
