#90115 Job Description Our DoD/Aerospace client is seeking an Engineering Support Specialist to support Hardware Engineering teams throughout prototype, pre-production, integration, and system build activities for complex mission-critical systems. This role focuses on cable and harness fabrication, chassis integration, hardware assembly, circuit board rework, and prototype development support. The hiring manager is looking for a hands-on technician with strong electro-mechanical assembly experience, soldering expertise, and the ability to interpret engineering documentation and identify integration issues prior to production release.

$40.40/hr

Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. U.S. Citizenship Required (Defense Environment)
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Technology degree in Engineering or a related specialized area/field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience, plus 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree. Experience supporting hardware engineering, prototype builds, pre-production builds, or manufacturing integration activities. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and interconnect documentation. Hands-on experience assembling, integrating, and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical hardware systems. Cable and cable harness fabrication experience. Experience with chassis assembly, subsystem integration, and system-level hardware builds. Proficiency using hand tools and assembly equipment. Experience performing circuit board rework, including surface mount (SMT) and through-hole component replacement. Ability to perform white-wire modifications and engineering change implementations. Strong soldering skills, including microscope soldering for precision electronic assemblies. Experience using pin and socket crimping tools. Ability to identify build, integration, and manufacturability issues and communicate findings to engineering teams. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in hardware integration environments. Experience working within engineering development, prototype, or defense manufacturing environments.

IPC J-STD-001
Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) certification Experience working with military-grade connectors such as D38999 Experience supporting defense, aerospace, military, or government programs Familiarity with hardware development lifecycles from prototype through production Experience supporting engineering labs or development environments Knowledge of cable routing, wire management, and harness design best practices Experience documenting build issues and recommending process improvements Strong collaboration skills in cross-functional engineering teams Specialized Experience That Will Stand Out
IPC J-STD-001
