Senior Project Engineer

Job Description

Burris Company, Inc., a Greeley, CO based design and distributor of premium sporting, law-enforcement and military optics, is looking for a Senior Project Engineer who is passionate about innovative technology. The Senior Project Engineer organizes and controls project elements and schedules while effectively communicating with internal teams and outside suppliers to complete projects that successfully meet company goals. The Senior Project Engineer will work directly with the Product Development, Sales, Marketing, and Operations teams and represent Burris Company at domestic and international supplier locations. This position can be located at either Greeley, Colorado or Miamisburg, OH.
Essential Duties:
Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with management. Creates project specifications and cost estimates by studying product design or concept, customer requirements, performance expectations and completing technical studies and surveys. Creates project schedules by studying project plan and specifications, calculating time requirements and sequencing project elements to meet company goals. Determines and assigns project responsibilities by identifying project phases and requirements. Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, plan and schedule changes; recommending actions. Maintains project schedule by communicating with domestic and international suppliers, monitoring project progress, coordinating activities and resolving problems. Controls project costs by approving expenditures, reviewing supplier quotations and negotiating supplier contracts. Confirms product conformance to established specifications by designing test procedures and pass/fail criteria and conducting testing. Plans and conducts online and in-person domestic and international supplier meetings to support current production and product development project plans. Develops and nurtures relationships with manufacturing partners and responds to various technical requests or issues from suppliers to audit and optimize vendor performance. Trains Burris and supplier QC and customer service personnel on new product features and technology. Identifies suitable technologies for current/future projects. Identifies and develops IP in support of the company's business goals. Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations. Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations. Other duties as assigned, requested, or required. Education & experience requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering discipline; Minimum 7 years Project Management experience; Manufacturing experience preferred Knowledge, skills and abilities: Effective written and verbal communication skills, including common technical language. Effective time management, organization, and multi-tasking skills. Competency with common Microsoft Office applications including MS project, Power point, Word, & Excel. Familiarity designing with SolidWorks and AutoCAD applications; proficiency in these applications preferred. Working knowledge of modern manufacturing techniques and processes and be able to use all common measuring tools. Development of design, performance and process specifications. Management of overseas suppliers for both product development and production activities. Development of test and measurement solutions Systems Engineering background/capability preferred Experience with the entire product development cycle and demonstrated experience defining, scheduling and managing projects from concept to mass production. DFM, DOE, DFMEA's, PFMEA's, SPC, process capability, process flow, and other design and quality management tools preferred.

Pay:
$100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
