Since our founding 25 years ago, we've grown to over 100 employees who are passionate about delivering creative and effective solutions that drive change in how buildings use energy. We focus on three core areas: 1. High-impact energy efficiency programs that improve building performance. 2. Workforce development and industry training to upskill professionals. 3. Innovative software solutions to manage and analyze energy efficiency data. Our work advances energy policies, supports contractors, and drives sustainability efforts across the industry. Performance Systems Development (PSD) is seeking a Technical Specialist to join the Program Delivery Team. The Technical Specialist will perform comprehensive quality assurance inspections on homes participating in various utility programs in the greater Seattle, WA area. This role is field-based, customer-facing, and essential to maintaining program integrity and client satisfaction. As a technical Specialist you will: Conduct QA inspections on new homes. This entails collecting data to include blower door testing, duct testing, health and safety testing as well as other measurements. Coordinate with program trade allies to schedule each week's inspection schedule. Report on inspection progress and/or issues encountered during inspections. Provide technical assistance and support to HERS Raters, home builders, and other program participants/stakeholders. Verify project submittals comply with program policies and procedures. Review energy savings calculations and project specifications and manage records in program database. Recruit program trade allies. What You Bring A passion for energy efficiency and sustainability in new construction. A strong work ethic with the ability to work independently with keen attention to detail. Ability to communicate effectively with all types of people and communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences Building science background, including energy efficiency certifications (RESNET HERS Rater, HERS Modeler, RFI, BPI Building Analyst); green building certifications (NAHB, LEED); and/or related areas. A minimum of six (6) months hands-on field experience in energy auditing, construction, or related field
Additional Details Physical Demands:
Frequent computer use requiring periods of sitting and close audio-visual concentration. Be able to lift diagnostic testing equipment (blower door, etc., up to 50 lbs).
Work Environment:
Field work is performed both outside and inside of buildings in varying weather conditions. Field work will include accessing attics, basements, crawlspaces, and other locations associated within the built environment
Travel Requirements:
Daily travel required within the program territory, with occasional overnight stays as needed.
