Job Overview The Chief Engineer is the senior leader responsible for the overall operation, management, safety, and maintenance of all engineering and physical plant systems throughout the hotel. This position leads the Engineering Department and ensures that the hotel building, guest rooms, public areas, mechanical systems, equipment, and life-safety systems are maintained in a safe, efficient, reliable, and cost-effective manner. The Chief Engineer works closely with the General Manager and all hotel departments to maintain the highest standards of guest comfort, property condition, safety, regulatory compliance, energy efficiency, and operational performance . Essential Responsibilities Provide overall leadership and direction for the Engineering/Maintenance Department. Manage, train, schedule, coach, and evaluate all engineering employees. Establish and maintain preventive maintenance programs for the entire property. Ensure all hotel equipment and building systems are operating safely and efficiently. Oversee HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boilers, pumps, generators, water systems, fire/life-safety systems, elevators, building automation, and other property systems. Maintain guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, kitchens, meeting spaces, pools, grounds, and other hotel facilities. Respond to major equipment failures and emergency situations. Develop and maintain an effective work-order and maintenance-management system. Prioritize engineering projects and maintenance requests based on guest impact, safety, urgency, and operational needs. Conduct regular inspections of the property and identify repairs, improvements, and potential safety hazards. Manage outside contractors, vendors, service companies, and specialized technicians. Review contractor work to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with hotel standards. Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, preventive maintenance, permits, and equipment servicing. Develop and manage the Engineering Department budget. Control maintenance expenses, labor costs, parts, supplies, and outside-service costs. Monitor inventory and maintain appropriate levels of engineering parts, tools, and supplies. Identify opportunities to reduce energy, water, and operating costs. Develop and implement energy-conservation programs. Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, fire codes, environmental regulations, OSHA requirements, and local regulations. Maintain all required licenses, permits, inspections, and certifications. Work closely with the General Manager during capital projects, renovations, and major repairs. Assist with the development of capital expenditure proposals and long-term property improvement plans. Coordinate engineering activities with Housekeeping, Front Office, Food & Beverage, Security, and other departments. Maintain strong communication with hotel leadership regarding property condition, major repairs, and operational concerns. Ensure engineering employees follow all hotel policies, safety procedures, and standards. Participate in hotel emergency preparedness and disaster-response procedures. Ensure the property is prepared for severe weather, power outages, equipment failures, and other emergencies. Maintain a professional and service-oriented relationship with guests and employees. Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the General Manager. Leadership Responsibilities The Chief Engineer is expected to run the Engineering Department as a department head , including: Hiring and staffing recommendations Employee training and development Department scheduling Performance management Daily department assignments Preventive-maintenance planning Budget management Vendor management Capital-project planning Compliance and inspections Emergency response Department standards and procedures Long-term maintenance planning Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or trade-school education preferred. 5+ years of engineering, facilities, or maintenance experience , preferably in a hotel, resort, hospital, commercial property, or large facility. Previous supervisory or management experience required. Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, building, and life-safety systems. Experience managing preventive-maintenance programs. Experience managing employees and department budgets. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and emergency situations. Knowledge of applicable safety regulations, building codes, and environmental requirements. Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergencies outside normal working hours. Preferred Certifications EPA 608 Certification HVAC certification Electrical or plumbing certification Boiler/operator certification, where applicable Certified Pool Operator (CPO), where applicable OSHA/Safety training Building automation or energy-management experience Key Performance Standards The Chief Engineer is accountable for ensuring that: 1. • The hotel maintains a high standard of appearance, functionality, cleanliness, and overall physical condition.

Overall Accountability The Chief Engineer is ultimately responsible for the day-to-day operation and long-term performance of the hotel's Engineering Department and physical plant , working in partnership with the General Manager to protect the hotel's assets, control operating costs, maintain regulatory compliance, and deliver a safe and comfortable experience for every guest.

$45,000.00
