The ERS Proposal Engineer is responsible for working with customers and Lindsey's sales team to interpret specifications and customer requirements to develop responsive quotations for Lindsey modular, guyed transmission line tower (ERS) systems. The position requires knowledge of the ERS system, its application, developing proposals, and interpreting technical and commercial documents. Once orders are received, the Proposal Engineer will act as the key point of contact with Supply Chain, Production Control, Customer Service, and Engineering to ensure the product is successfully entered into the company's ERP system and all contractual requirements are met. The position takes day-to-day direction from the ERS Product Manager, and reports to the VP Sales.
Duties:
o Collaborate with utility customers to determine emergency transmission structure requirements. o Develop technical configurations for transmission line structures based on customer specifications and project requirements. o Support formal tender submissions by working with the Sales team to develop technical and commercial proposal strategies. o Develop an accurate bill of materials for an ERS system that meets the customer's requirements. o Develop accurate costs for the ERS system to be quoted. o Work with the ERS Product Manager to develop a price to quote for each system. o Prepare detailed technical and commercial quotations, proposals, and supporting documentation. o Review and interpret customer specifications, drawings, contracts, and bid documents. o Keep track of your projects and provide regular updates on their status to ERS Product Manager. o Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams to ensure proposed solutions are practical, accurate, and cost-effective. o Prepare drawings in support of proposal and sales processes o Become fluent in the use of Lindsey's ERP system, M2M. o Review and interpret commercial documents provided by customers to identify how they may conflict with Lindsey's preferred terms. o Present commercial terms of concern to the ERS Product Manager and VP Sales for guidance. o Include language in proposal to clarify differences in commercial conditions. o Work with customer service to ensure that orders are entered properly, customer questions are answered, shipping terms and arrangements are made properly, and (for Engineer II) that questions on commercial issues are resolved promptly. o Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements and best practices in the field. o Adhere to relevant industry standards, regulations and safety protocols to ensure that work meets legal and regulatory requirements. o As required, travel to visit customers in support of quotations and participate in trade shows. o Participate in industry standards setting bodies as required (Engineer II). o Follow company conduct, rules and guidelines o Perform other duties as assigned.
