Job Description

The Business Unit President has full Profit and Loss responsibility for all defined products and services sold globally throughout the business. This includes products both manufactured and distributed on a resale basis through both direct and indirect distribution channels. This position leads all marketing sales, customer service and distribution center network efforts. The role is a key contributor to the overall strategy, business objectives and direction of the business. The Business Unit President is responsible for overall direction of the assigned units, including development of current and long-range objectives and programs that effectively promote and distribute the business' products. The position represents the organization to customers, employees and the general public.
  • Models and promotes the Corporate Creed, which recognizes the Company's responsibility to its customers, employees, shareholders, and the communities and nations in which it conducts business.
  • Coordinates and directs group activities that include, but not limited to, the attainment of identified goals and objectives, which may include forecasting; initiating research for benchmarking; group, division, or product line competitiveness; recommendations for product positioning, branding and/or product line extensions; and formulating strategies.
  • Manages staffing and succession planning. Works to upgrade the skills of the team by recruiting and developing exceptionally talented staff, including a qualified successor.
  • Conceives and executes the strategic plan of the business in concert with the group's executive leadership.
  • Communicates a compelling long-term vision for the assigned units align efforts, resources and employees with the vision and strategy.
  • Leads strategic and operating plans within the group plan.
  • Monitors operating results, compares them to established objectives, and takes appropriate action to adapt to changing business conditions to achieve the business
  • Develops current and long-term strategic plan objectives and programs that effectively promote and distribute the business' products.
  • Identifies, evaluates, recommends, obtains approvals for, and implements acquisitions consistent with strategies and objectives of the brand and company.
  • Manages, efficiently and effectively, both the physical operations and inventory investment ($40 plus million) of a network of 50 plus distribution centers and 250 plus delivery vehicles in North America
  • Works with the Senior Vice President of Operations to drive operational, quality, and cost improvement initiatives.
  • Promotes and emphasizes open communications to foster stronger teamwork and focus on division-wide objectives.
  • Manages sales, profits, and assets to ensure total customer satisfaction, maximize long-term shareholder value.
  • Fosters cross business cooperation and collaboration to fully leverage talent, products, customers and intellectual property.
  • Interacts directly with key and target customers to assure customer satisfaction, retention, and growing levels of commercial activity.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of employee(s) to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished. Mentors, coaches, trains and develops team.
  • Additional duties as needed.
  • Bachelor's Degree in business management or related field
  • Advanced degree (MBA, Master's) preferred
  • 15+ years progressive business management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10+ years in a leadership role (direct or indirect)
  • Periodic travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required.
  • High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
  • Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
