$70.00 per hour Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager with an engineering background and experience managing complex projects within the electric utility, transmission, substation, or energy industry. The Senior Project Manager will lead programs and projects focused on utility grid investments, working with engineering, operations, project teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. The ideal candidate will have strong project leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with experience managing technical projects and investment programs. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage complex engineering and utility projects from initiation through completion. Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, budgets, and resource plans. Coordinate project activities across engineering, operations, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders. Monitor project progress, costs, schedules, risks, and issues. Identify project risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies. Lead project meetings and facilitate discussions to keep projects moving forward. Provide regular project status updates, reporting, and performance metrics to leadership and stakeholders. Manage project documentation, schedules, reports, and other project deliverables. Coordinate project dependencies and ensure effective communication among project teams. Support portfolio and investment planning related to utility infrastructure. Evaluate project priorities using engineering analysis, asset condition information, operational considerations, financial constraints, and risk assessments. Help develop project scope, schedules, budgets, and execution strategies. Ensure projects meet quality, schedule, budget, and regulatory requirements. Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external project stakeholders. Apply project management best practices and processes to improve project delivery.
Program / Project
Focus This position will support utility grid investment programs and projects, particularly within transmission and substation assets. Projects may involve areas such as: Substation modernization Relay and protection systems Transmission line assets Overhead and underground transmission Major equipment replacement Transformer replacement Communications upgrades Intelligent substations Wood-to-steel conversions Security enhancements Asset renewal and reliability initiatives The team focuses on improving grid reliability and resiliency, reducing system risk, mitigating asset failure, and maintaining regulatory compliance. Required Qualifications 5-10 years of professional experience in project/program management, engineering, or a related field. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering. Engineering background is required. Experience managing complex projects or programs. Experience in the electric utility, energy, transmission, or substation industry strongly preferred. PMP certification is required. Strong project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk-management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and stakeholders simultaneously. Ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team. Preferred Technical Experience Experience with some of the following is highly desirable: Asset Suite Cascade PSCAD Microsoft Excel Microsoft Power BI / Business Intelligence tools Apollo Electric utility project management Utility asset management Transmission & Substation projects Grid investment programs
