POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Manager owns commercial electrical projects from kickoff through closeout and is accountable for their profitability. This role plans and runs the work, keeps crews productive and supplied, protects margins through disciplined change order and billing practices, and builds the general contractor relationships that bring in the next project. This is a hands-on role. The best Project Managers are on the job site every week, spot problems before anyone else does, and understand that successful projects come down to managing the labor, materials, and details.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project planning and execution Create, maintain, and revise project work plans as conditions change. Manage daily project operations and scope. Allocate manpower across projects and plan labor needs 6 to 12 months out based on project flow. Review all deliverables daily before they are presented to the client, and prepare engagement reviews and QA. Keep field crews working without downtime by ensuring materials arrive on time, the right tools are on site, and emergency trips to the shop are minimized. Manage fuel expense and minimize risk and exposure on every project. Walk every project with the foreman weekly and maintain accurate records of project progress. Forecasting and Financial Management Forecast revenue and profit for each project using the manpower column on the forecasting sheet. Hold the variance between forecast and realized income to under 10% per month. Maintain and grow profit margin on the majority of projects. Keep accrued statements to less than 10 days and ensure billings are accurate to material and labor, with no changes between month end and the start of the next month. Discuss large material purchases ($100K+) with the appropriate executive leadership before committing. Change Orders Work with Estimating on small changes and involve Estimating early on major changes. Set expectations at kickoff by agreeing with the decision maker on how change orders will be handled. Document all communication about changes in scope, present change orders with options, and maintain appropriate margins on change order work. Billing and Collections Prepare invoices, review them for errors or omissions, and submit them to Accounting. Build relationships with client accounts payable contacts, follow up promptly on slow pays, and manage receivables according to contract terms. Test every apparatus upon completion and pre-test for the punch list. Lead punch list reviews and project closeout meetings with the client. Business Development Identify add-on sales opportunities on active projects and lead the proposal effort. Identify opportunities to expand relationships with existing clients and general contractors. Turn change order conversations with Estimating into opportunities on upcoming projects. Consistently manage three to four key client and general contractor relationships and maintain regular communication with GCs. Team Management and Communication Recruit, educate, motivate, and evaluate the project team, including conflict resolution and personnel matters. Hold education sessions monthly, quarterly check-ins, and performance evaluations twice a year. Submit safety concerns and corrective actions promptly to the appropriate safety leadership. Communicate consistently with Estimating, Sales, Project Management support, Accounting, Marketing, and executive leadership, including weekly leadership conversations and regular financial reviews. Introduce clients to the Service Department at project handoff for warranty support and future service opportunities. Maintain a visible presence on job sites and build strong working relationships with field teams, clients, general contractors, and internal stakeholders.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrated success completing projects on time and on budget, including the ability to navigate challenging project conditions, with references from a client for whom you have completed multiple projects. Proven track record of collecting according to contract terms. Existing relationships with quality general contractors and a history of account acquisition, with prior business development results of $1,000,000 or more. Strong working knowledge of the electrical industry, with the ability to walk a project and recognize problems and potential scope gaps early.
